So often, when we say, we are āprotecting our peaceā what we may be really protecting is our comfort. We step back, go, quiet, or disconnect, not because we found peace, but because we found temporary relief from overstimulation, confrontation, or emotional overwhelmed.
The problem is avoidance and suppression can masquerade as peace. ļæ¼
We call it peace when we stop arguing, but really weāve stopped engaging.
We call it peace when we withdraw, but really weāve stopped feeling.
We call it peace when we ālet things goā but really weāve stopped allowing ourselves to care.
This kind of piece isnāt calm. Itās collapse. Itās not emotional regulation. Itās emotional shut down. ļæ¼
