Access Counseling

Access Counseling To provide affordable counseling to individuals who otherwise could not afford mental health care.

For over three decades, ACCESS (Aransas County Counseling & Educational Support Services) has been a steady hand for the Coastal Bend, providing affordable services and hope when it was needed most. Access Counseling works solely on grants and private donations, we accept any donation - large and small to help subsidize the cost of mental health care for people who wish to help themselves.

Day 15 – Hurricane Harvey

Hurricane Harvey changed everything overnight. Homes and businesses were destroyed, routines disappeared, and families were left trying to make sense of it all.

Access worked to reopen as quickly as possible, and within five months, our doors were open again. The need for support doubled almost instantly.

With your support, we were able to focus on being there for our community.

Day 13 – Reflecting Back

When people believe in each other, even the smallest space can become a lifeline.

Access grew because people here kept offering those small acts of support, again and again. Thirty years later, that belief is still carrying families through.

As we look ahead, we are so grateful that same community spirit will guide the next 30 years.

Day 12 – Keeping Care Within Reach

Since the beginning, Access has relied on a balance of grants, community giving, and sliding-scale fees to make counseling accessible.

It’s a shared effort, neighbors helping neighbors, and it’s what keeps our doors open to everyone.

As we celebrate over three decades of service, please join us in continuing the mission: https://givebutter.com/c/access2025

Day 11 – Growing Forward!

We’ve come a long way since our early days.

As our community’s needs have grown, we’ve grown too, and we’re now investing in better systems and technology to make reaching Access easier.

Every improvement is part of our commitment to showing up for families when they need us most.

Our Story

Aransas County Counseling and Educational Support Service, Inc. (ACCESS) had its beginning in 1992, from a need identified by Dr. Frances Mayo, for affordable counseling services and educational programs for all people. With the help and dedication of many volunteers, ACCESS found a permanent home in 1997 and continues in helping people help themselves.
