Last patient of the day is needled and resting. Here comes another thunderstorm.

This time of year in Traditional Chinese Medicine is know as the 5th season, Late Summer, and is characterized by dampness, humidity and heat. So we focus on the Earth Element, the Spleen and Stomach, strengthening digestion and collecting energy for the fall and winter ahead.

Dampness in the body can make us feel sluggish, tired, heavy in our limbs with achy joints and can cause loose stools, bloating and overthinking.

It's important to eat foods now that help remove dampness from the body. It's a good time to start eating more cooked vegetables like sweet potatoes, carrots, and beets.

It is also a good time to ground ourselves and reflect on the summer season that is passing and begin preparing for the fall.
