Never Too Late: Getting Active in Adulthood Adds Years

An analysis of 85 studies, including up to 6.5 million participants, confirms that consistent physical activity lowers mortality risk—no matter when you start.

Adults who maintained moderate-to-vigorous activity had a 30–40% lower risk of death from all causes. Even those who became active later in life reduced their mortality risk by 20–25%.

Published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, the study reinforces that meeting basic movement guidelines (150+ minutes per week) can significantly extend lifespan and prevent cardiovascular disease. Importantly, even less-than-recommended activity made a meaningful difference—any movement is better than none.

☀️ Start Strong: Morning Movement + Muscle
Get up, get outside, and move first thing in the morning. It gets your body going and that sunlight on your face helps reset your circadian rhythm, supporting energy, sleep, and mood.

Aim for 30 minutes of continuous movement—walking, biking, or anything that gets your heart rate up to support cardiovascular fitness.

And don’t forget strength training. Just 2 days a week makes a big difference—especially for women over 60.

It’s not a mystery. It’s simple:
Squats, lunges, planks, pushups.
Start with bodyweight. Add bands and dumbbells when you're ready.
