Far infrared-emitting garments and devices have gained momentum in recent years claiming to have positive effects on both recovery and performance measures. However, the effectiveness of these devices and garments remain unclear. A systematic review conducted by B. Bontemps et al. (2021) synthesized the most current studies on this topic.

Although I feel the proper use of ice and or cold as a treatment modality is still evolving I found this small study interesting. Using HRV to monitor Vagal tone when using ice and or cold treatment for recovery is a critical piece for us to better understand how our autonomic nervous system is functioning.
