🥇This global event is celebrating its 100th anniversary, making it the second oldest multi-sport game in the world.

🎽Athletes must have at least 55 dB hearing loss in their better ear and no assistive devices are allowed. Communication access includes visual information, such as starting lights and flags, as well as International Sign Language.

When hearing aids no longer help, more older Americans are turning to cochlear implants, according to a recent article in The New York Times. However, even though Medicare expanded its eligibility rules in 2022, less than 10 percent of eligible adults receive them, says the American Cochlear Implant Alliance.

🎃 Is your child with hearing loss trick-or-treating or attending a party tonight? Help them have fun by:

• Avoiding masks or headpieces that can dislodge hearing devices
• Cleaning, charging and adjusting hearing devices before leaving home
• Going out in groups with a responsible adult
• Staying close enough together that they can hear you at all times
• Helping them stay aware of their surroundings, especially vehicles
