From Self-Doubt to CRNA Acceptance! �

If you’re new here, I want to share something with you.

This work didn’t start with a big platform, a team, or a business plan. I just started what felt right in my heart.
I'm Rochelle, CRNA going on 16 years in June.

It started in August 2024…
With a free Facebook group. Yes- Free where people rarely showed up.

Three women interested in Crna school and Me!
Thursday nights.
8:00 PM. On Zoom

That was it.

I started as a one-woman show, and I work with nurses intentionally and closely.

I never imagined this would grow into a community, mentees, collaborations, and a following of almost 7k.
I definitely never imagined seeing nurses I’ve mentored get accepted into CRNA programs across the country. Programs such as:

Emory University,
Cincinnati University,
Kaiser Permanente School of Anesthesia,
Florida International University,
Case Western Reserve University,
and University of Maryland.

This journey has reminded me that growth doesn’t have to be loud to be real. It doesn’t have to be fast to matter. It just has to be consistent.

You don't have to have it all figured out - sometimes you just gotta start. Make a move and the next move will come.

So if you’re watching this feeling behind, stuck, or unsure if your dream is worth pushing for…

Let this be your reminder:

Big rewards often start quietly.
And you don’t need permission to begin.

“Just Start and keep going.”

You don’t need another certification.
You don’t need to collect more letters.
And you don’t need to keep adding random things hoping something sticks.

Most CRNA applicants I see aren’t rejected because they didn’t do enough.
They’re rejected because their application isn’t strategic.

You’re fixing everything… except the thing programs actually care about.

And that’s why it feels like nothing is working. They are all over the place. Create a strategic plan and learn from the school what they are looking for - specifically.

CRNA applicant — this one might sting, but it will also bring relief.

If you’ve been piling on certifications, shadow hours, or extra classes thinking
“THIS has to be the thing that finally works”…
I need you to hear this:

👉 Doing more is not the same as doing what matters.

Most rejected applications don’t fail because of effort.
They fail because of misalignment.

And no one tells you what to fix — so you just keep guessing.

You’re not behind.
You’re not unqualified.
You’re just fixing the wrong things.

I see this one constantly — and it trips people up hard.

Even Acute Care NP work is often not counted as critical care nursing experience for CRNA admissions.

Why?

Because anesthesia education is built on:
• RN-level bedside pattern recognition
• moment-to-moment physiologic response
• managing instability before orders exist

NP work ≠ ICU RN work
Different scope. Different expectations. Different training focus.

Many programs will still require:
➡️ recent ICU RN hours
➡️ RN-level references
➡️ bedside competency proof

This doesn’t devalue NP practice. In fact- it proves success with advance level course work but ….
CRNA education is built on a very specific foundation.

⚠️ If you’re planning NP as a “stepping stone,” pause and research deeply. Ask yourself” what are my real goals”?

Are you a Black ICU nurse feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure why you’re not getting traction toward CRNA school?

Most nurses don’t doubt their intelligence- they doubt their belonging. Will they fit in? Will they be “the only one” in their class. I know this all too well because that was me.

Most ICU nurses are often high performers, over qualified and deeply capable- but years of being underrepresented, overlooked, or told “girl be realistic” train us to feel like this career was out of reach.
Well- it’s not and if I did it you can as well.
