Grip Variations & Back Focus

Overhand Grip (Pronated)

Strongman doesn’t start with atlas stones. It starts with a foundation. Before the yoke walks, stones, and carries come the fundamentals.

High-level strongman athletes rely on conventional resistance training to build the strength, durability, and work capacity needed for sport-specific lifts.

Why?

Because structured training develops the muscles and movement control that strongman events demand:

• Leg press builds lower-body strength and volume capacity while managing spinal fatigue
• Lying hamstring curls strengthen the posterior chain and support powerful pulls and carries
• Upper-back training improves posture, bracing, and load control under awkward implements
• Core training increases stability and force transfer when moving uneven weight
• Accessory work reinforces weak points that often limit event performance

Strongman events are chaotic. Training shouldn’t be.

(469) 993-3636 Text Dr. Nick. He’s gonna be officing out of Legends on Fridays from this coming week on. He does extensive labs for your blood work. He currently treats athletes in I think 30 states. Let’s stay healthy. The blood doesn’t lie. This man is an encyclopedia. He also does all primary care. He’ll be in Emily’s office on Fridays. He’s very busy but moving over to Legends and ready to help.
