Gary Seay

Gary Miller Seay, age 94 of Moneta died Tuesday, November 20, 2024.

Gary graduated from Buchanan High School, served in the U.S. Army in Germany where he was undefeated lightweight boxing champion with the 1st Division. He then served in Korea and earned a number of medals including 2 Bronze Stars, a Silver Star, and Purple Heart. He was a Prisoner of the War in Korea for 31 months and 7 days during which time he went from weighting 170 lbs. to 96 lbs. when he was released. He worked at Roanoke Animal Hospital for 12 years and owned and retired from Gary’s Poodle Salon after 24 years in the grooming business. He was a lifetime member of the VFW.

Gary is survived by his wife of 71 years, Winifred (Winnie) Duncan Seay; sons, Randy Seay and wife Elisabeth, Larry Seay and wife Dawn; three grandsons, Kevin Seay, Wyatt Seay, and Elijah Seay; great-grandchildren, Lacy Marie Seay and Joseph Alexander Seay ; brother, Richard; sister, Iona Seay Watts; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Mae Seay; sisters, Carol Seay, Frances Seay Smith; brothers, Bruce Seay and Ronnie Seay.

It was Gary’s desire to be cremated and his service to be private.

Winifred "Winnie" Seay

Winifred "Winnie" Seay age 94 of Hardy, VA passed away Monday, March 30, 2026. She was born on June 28, 1931 a daughter of the late Matthew and Laura Wimmer Duncan. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gary Miller Seay in 2024.

Winnie graduated from Buchanan High School where she was the school Valedictorian. She owned, operated and retired from Gary’s Poodle Salon after 24 years in the grooming business working alongside her husband, Gary.

Winnie is survived by sons, Randy Seay and wife Elisabeth, Larry Seay and wife Dawn; three grandsons, Kevin Seay (Danielle), Wyatt Seay (Brooke), and Elijah Seay (Julia); great-grandchildren, Lacy Marie Seay and Joseph Alexander Seay; brother, Richard; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

It was Winnie's desire to be cremated and her service private.

Martina Maria Young, age 82, of Wirtz, passed away at her home, while surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, March 21, 2026.

Martina will forever be remembered as a loving mother, sister, aunt and friend to many. She will be sadly missed by her family. In addition Maria was Cat-Mother to her four fur babies.

To honor her wishes, Maria's funeral wishes were to be kept simple and private.

Ruby Evelyn Reynolds, age 91 of Myrtle Beach and formerly of Snow Creek, passed away March 20, 2026 at her home.

Ruby was born August 8, 1934 to the late James and Rosa Osborne. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Reynolds; daughter Patricia Reynolds Wyatt; grandson Perry Brown, III, Great Grandchild Allen (Kim and Don); five brothers Roy, Shack, Buck, Rookie and Will; three sisters Patsy, Daisy and Lizzy; special friends Andy Mullins and Mabel Prillaman. Ruby was retired from Dupont. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, fishing, gambling, playing cards, working in her flower beds, dancing, traveling, Myrtle Beach and she especially loved talking on the phone with friends and loved ones.

Surviving are her daughters Nancy Cannaday (Donald), Norma Jean Brown; six grandchildren Deanna Frate (Thomas), Kim Allen (Don), Crystal Brown, D.J. Cannaday (Lola), Stephanie Henderson (Gerry, Jr), Derek Wyatt; seventeen great-grandchildren Brandon Howell (Ana), Emily Howell (Spencer), Sean Howell (Haley), Kaydence Joplin, Josh Joplin, Scarlette Frate, Amber Thompson (James), Heather Allen, Katie Allen (Jamie Farris), Jasmine Davis (Ronnie), Mac Cannaday (Jenna), Hunter Cannaday, Niasia Mitchell, Lundin Norman, Trey "Gerry" Henderson, Itali Henderson, Ayla Henderson, Serenity Henderson; seven great-great-grandchildren Mason Couch, Karson Davis, Jaxson Davis, Ah'leyah Hedrick, Carson Thompson, Esteban Perea, Leo Baby due in August; sister-in-law Florence Wright; special friends at Myrtle Beach Donna Husarek, Judy, Michael, Michele, Howard, Jean, John and Edna; a host of many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 12 noon Saturday, March 28, 2026 from Boones Chapel Church with Pastors Mike Gallimore and Brandon Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Her family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 11:00 am at the church.

Linda Ruffner Bishop

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Ruffner Bishop, 79, on March 20, 2026, at her home in Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia.

She was born and raised in Orange, Virginia, on December 28, 1946, to Earl and Nellie Ruffner, Linda grew up to graduate from Orange County High School in 1965.

She leaves behind her devoted husband, Ken Bishop, after 56 years of marriage, their daughter Emily and her husband Hudson, and their children, Hailey and Preston, living in San Francisco, CA. Her brother Daniel Ruffner and his wife Susan of Myrtle Beach, SC, also survive her.

In her final two weeks, Linda was under the care of Hospice at home, where she was surrounded by her loving family and friends. In accordance with her wishes to forgo a formal funeral service these visits serve as her memorial.

Shirley Cundiff Wray

Shirley Cundiff Wray, age 87 of Wirtz, went to be with the Lord March 19, 2026 after a brief illness.Shirley was born July 9, 1938 to the late Johnny B. Cundiff and Dorothy Arrington Cundiff. in addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Henry Wray, Jr.; brothers Johnny Buck Cundiff and Bruce Alan Cundiff; a close cousin who was like a sister to her Barbara Kidman.

Shirley was a member of Smith Mountain Lake Church of the Brethren. She worked many years within her community as manager of the Quick Kitchen in Glade Hill and the Dudley Mart. Shirley also enjoyed traveling with her sister. She was proud of all the many places they visited within the US and over seas. One of her fondest memories was visiting Israel, where she was baptized in the Jordan River.

Surviving are her children, daughters Peggy Blankenship (Johnnie), Wanda Dudley ( Neil Hudson); her son Barry Wray (Pam); sister Nancy Veibell; grandchildren Donovan Dudley (Alicia), Jason Dudley ( Wendy), Brandon Blankenship, Nicole Blankenship ( Scott Odum), Trevor Wray and Colton Wray; great-grandchildren Leanna Payton Blankenship, Kinley Blankenship, Grayson Wright, Jackson Dudley, Bentley Dudley, Caleb Drewery; great -great-granddaughter Isabella Rene Blankenship; and Shirley's fur baby Jasper.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to Smith Mountain Lake Church of the Brethren or to St. Judes Childrens Hospital.

Funeral services will be held 2pm Wednesday, March 25, 2026 from Conner-Bowman Funeral Chapel with Pastor Kenny King officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Her family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service Wednesday beginning at 1 p.m. at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home, Rocky Mount.
