Sierra Nicole Hodges

Beloved daughter/devoted mother...Sierra Nicole Hodges age 27 of Rocky Mount passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 surrounded by loving family and friends. Sierra is leaving behind a legacy of laughter and kindness. She Loved hard and with all of her heart.

Born on August 28, 1998 in Roanoke, VA to Carl "CJ" Hodges, Jr and Tara (Williams) Himmel. Sierra had a spark in her that seemed contagious, known for her infectious smile. Her laugh brought joy to anyone who got the pleasure of hearing it.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Adrinna Himmel; her "bonus dad", Daniel J. DeWitt; and her grandpa, Dale Williams.

Sierra is survived by her children, Julian Alvarez and Gabriella Alvarez, Rocky Mount; three brothers, Elijah D. Himmel (Brooke), Daniel Z. DeWitt (Kaylyn) of Rocky Mount, Zachary Thompson (Zoe), Colcord, WV; three nephews, Keaton Himmel, Kylar and Kaisyn Thompson; grandparents, Carl and Shirley Hodges, Ginger Williams; great-grandmother, Judy Thompson; uncle, Shannon Pugh (Danielle); one aunt, Leanna White (Buck); Many other aunts and uncles, and special too many cousins to list. She is also survived by four very dear and best friends she counted on daily, Kayla Lambert (Dakota), Lexy Fisher (Logan), Kelsey Paden, and Chad Escamilla "Chico'; the one that had her heart, Noah Chitwood.

Sierra had a fierce love for animals rescuing many throughout her short life. Her true love and passion was being a mother. She loved her babies with everything she had. Her cup always overflowed as long as she had them.

Sierra graduated in 2016 from Franklin County High School, she was involved in gymnastic for over 10 years, and it is no surprise she ended up in the health-care profession being a caregiver doing what she loved...HELPING OTHERS!

May her memory be a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will always be loved, missed and never forgotten!

Sierra was an organ donor and was able to save several lives and help numerous others by being a donor. Through her death she lives on and will continue to give and help others as her legacy of helping others will live on forever.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 PM Monday, December 22, 2025 at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Poland officiating. Interment will follow in the Epworth United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday beginning at 12 Noon until service time at the funeral home.

A note from mom....Being your mom was my greatest blessing in life and missing you now, is the hardest part of living that life. My Sissy-Girl you will aways be! LOVE, MOM

Gail Marie Isley

Gail Marie Isley, age 64 of Callaway, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2025.

We have decided to hold a Celebration of Life at a later date when the weather is warmer. Mom truly enjoyed family gatherings and cookouts, and we feel this will be a meaningful way to honor her life.

If you would like to send an arrangement, we kindly ask that you consider a donation to Spirit FM instead, on behalf of Gail Isley. Mom donated regularly, and this would mean a great deal to her and to our family.

Peggy Scott Webster

Born on November 18, 1932 in Roanoke, Virginia, Peggy Barbara Scott was the youngest of three children. She was a gifted student in high school, and had planned to attend college. Unfortunately, she lost her father very unexpectedly when she was 17, so she went to work to support her Mother instead.

She met her future husband John (J.C.) at church and they dated for almost five years before marrying in 1960 and moving to Maryland. They welcomed their first daughter Elizabeth a few years later, followed by their second daughter Karen.

Peggy had always enjoyed working, but left her career behind when she had children so that she could be home with them. As with everything she did, she threw herself 100% into her family and volunteered her time and talents to countless organizations, including her children’s schools. She held the office of President of the PTAs at all three schools her children attended, the Homemakers of Today, the Prince George’s Science Fair Association, and the Presley Manor Civic Association. Her devoted husband of 65 years often volunteering right along side of her.

They raised their family in a wonderful neighborhood where they made amazing lifelong friends, many of whom they still see and keep in touch with to this day.

After the children were grown, Peggy returned to work, having a second career working in a DC law firm. She loved dressing for work and taking the Metro into the city every day.

After retiring, she and J.C. remained active in their community and with their friends. Often hosting people at their home because she really enjoyed cooking and entertaining. They were both thrilled when their Granddaughter Jordyn was born. Her arrival gave her great joy and another little girl to spoil.

Peggy Scott Webster was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be missed by many, and remembered forever by those she loved.

Funeral services will be held 12 p.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2025 from Fairmont Baptist Church with Pastor Tom Nestor officiating. Her family will be receiving friends beginning at 11:30 a.m. before the service. Burial to follow in the church cemetery.

We take great care in answering this common question. Just like adults, children’s grieving journeys can begin at a funeral. So the short answer is yes. The long answer: We think it’s best that you share with your children as much as possible in preparation of what they will experience. Explain to them that there will be people there that are sad, and even crying. Be sure to let them ask as many questions as they can in advance. For babies, toddlers and very young children, it is up to you if you think they can participate in a visitation, funeral, celebration of life, or gathering.
