⭐ WEEK 1 — Pioneers Who Changed Medicine

👉🏽 The first Black woman physician in the United States earned her degree in 1864 — just one year after the Emancipation Proclamation.

Today we honor Dr. Rebecca Lee Crumpler, a true pioneer in American medicine.
After the Civil War, she dedicated her career to caring for formerly enslaved individuals who had little to no access to healthcare.
She later authored one of the first medical books written by a Black physician.
Her legacy reminds us that medicine is more than diagnosis and treatment — it is advocacy, compassion, and service.
