The House has proposed a 33% budget cut to day programs for individuals with IDD. And while that number may sound like a line item on a spreadsheet, the impact is deeply personal.

Day programs are not just a place to go. They are a second home.

We help individuals build independence. We teach life skills like hygiene, social interaction, and community engagement. We provide structure. Stability. Friendship. Purpose.

For many, this is what they look forward to every single day.

If these cuts move forward, the impact won’t just affect providers. It will affect families who may have to leave their jobs. It will affect individuals who lose daily social interaction with peers and staff who feel like family. It will impact mental health, stability, and quality of life.

Our individuals love giving back.

They care deeply about their community.

We invite representatives to spend a full day with providers like Choices for People. Come see the impact firsthand. See the joy. See the growth. See the community.

We remain hopeful.

Our individuals are resilient.

Our families are strong.

Our staff are dedicated.

And we will continue to advocate for the resources needed to ensure people with disabilities have the opportunities they deserve.

We want to give a big shoutout to Phelps Health for their continued support of our mission here at Choices for People.

Partnerships like this make a real difference. When local organizations come alongside us, it strengthens the work we do every day to support individuals with disabilities and help them live full, connected, and meaningful lives.

We are grateful for the generosity, encouragement, and community spirit that Phelps Health consistently shows. It truly takes a community to create impact, and we’re thankful to be in this together.

Thank you for standing with us and supporting the people we serve.

The Winter Olympics had us feeling inspired… so we hosted our own version with our individuals ❄️🏅

Let’s just say the marshmallow stacking competition got serious real quick 😂 And hanging out by the fire made it the perfect winter day.

I love how our team always finds simple, creative ways to make day services fun. It’s never boring around here, and that’s what makes it so good.

What does independence look like?

It looks like showing up somewhere you’re known.

It looks like having a routine.

It looks like friendships, purpose, and belonging.

House Bill 2010 threatens that.

A proposed 33% cut to developmental disability
services would reduce access to vital Day Services across Missouri.

This decision is being made right now as the FY2027 budget is finalized.

If you believe independence should be protected, now is the time to speak up.

Say it clearly: No cuts to DD services.
