Choices for People provides support to help those with disabilities to participate in the community.

Today is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.1.3 billion people worldwide deserve full and equal access to every aspect of life. Their potential is limitless, but the barriers are real.

At Choices for People, we exist to actively dismantle those barriers, so that every individual is free to reach their fullest potential.

Join us in celebrating the strength, diversity, and contributions of all individuals with disabilities, and commit to changing perceptions and building a truly inclusive world, today, and every day.

In many communities, people with intellectual and developmental disabilities are often forgotten. There simply aren't enough organizations dedicated to giving them everything they need to succeed in life.

That's the gap Choices for People fills.

We got our start back in 1957 and expanded our mission to serve all individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in 1994. Today, we are proud to offer a complete spectrum of services, including day programs, residential living, employment support, independent living support, and community integration.

This year, we’ve expanded from four locations to seven, now serving:

❤️Saint Robert
❤️Salem
❤️Jefferson City
❤️Versailles
❤️Houston
❤️Sullivan

We are growing, but we are absolutely committed to maintaining that personal connection with everyone we serve.

Happy Thanksgiving! We wish you all a wonderful holiday filled with great company and, of course, amazing food.

Our offices will be closed today, Thursday, November 27th, and tomorrow, Friday, November 28th, so our team can enjoy the holiday weekend with their families.

We will be opening back up for normal operations on Monday, December 1st.

We made delicious pies for our community to eat this Thanksgiving so you don’t have to stress out about baking!

Come to our office at 600 N McArthur in Salem and grab yourself an amazing pie for $10 anytime today, Wednesday, Nov 26th between 12pm-3pm!

Every purchase supports a great cause! Proceeds go directly to an organization chosen by the individuals we serve. This is our way to pay it forward this Thanksgiving!

We had an amazing time hosting our company-wide Thanksgiving this year!

It was a wonderful opportunity for our individuals, staff, and partners to all get together and celebrate with each other; and it was such a joy to see so many smiling faces in one place.

We feel privileged every single day to support our individuals, helping them to live their lives to the absolute fullest. This year we have been able to continue to grow and serve even more communities, but all of this wouldn’t be possible without the unending support from our partners and members of our communities!

We all have so much to be thankful for this year and we cannot wait to see what is to come in 2026! ❤️
