Every year in the U.S., about 3,700 babies die from sleep-related infant deaths. Some are diagnosed as Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, where we still don’t fully know why it happens.
But not all of these deaths are unexplained. Some are linked to accidental suffocation or unsafe sleep environments - which means many are preventable.
That’s why safe sleep is injury prevention.
Just like car seats, bike helmets, and stair gates protect children from harm, a safe sleep space helps reduce risk while babies rest.
