We are proud to announce that Nine Line Apparel has partnered with 1*Wellness to create a memorial shirt for Andrew Wachter.
Andrew Wachter was an officer at Rolla Police Department, dutifully and faithfully serving in law enforcement for 9 years before his death. Throughout his career, Andrew was officially awarded two Life Saving Awards, one Meritorious Service award, and one Grand Cordon award.
Andrew contracted COVID while working. In 2020, COVID-19 was a force that was difficult to handle. Crime did not stop just because a virus was making its way through every state. The risk of getting COVID while on duty was well known, but Andrew did not derelict his duty to serve his community. He did not shy away from helping those in need and continued to work through the pandemic as long as he was able. Andrew went from being a healthy thirty-one-year-old to experiencing multiple organ system complications post COVID-19. After experiencing devastating symptoms for nearly two years, Andrew died of su***de September 14, 2022. After reviewing Andrew's case the Department of Justice ruled COVID as a catastrophic injury and Andrew’s death a line of duty death in July 2025. Despite this designation by the Department of Justice (DOJ), many organizations have continued to decline to assist the Wachter family. We feel it is important to remember Andrew’s sacrifice, and to remember not all symptoms and suffering are visible.
After hearing about Andrew, Nine Line Apparel worked with the Wachter family to create a design that would honor Andrew and help to support their family. Proceeds from the sales will be donated to Andrew’s children: Jayleigh (11), Mackenna (9), Addilyn (9), and Jackson (4). The design for the shirt was based upon an entry from Katlyn’s own grief journal, where she had written this prayer to St. Michael while she was reflecting upon Andrew’s life.
A Prayer to St. Michael:
You granted me valor against dark and unknown, now grant me resolve should memories of battle follow me home.
If I begin to ruminate on events not yet healed, hear my prayer and act as my shield.
You granted me courage to serve my oath well, now grant me peace when it's my thoughts that need quelled.
Should the burdens of duty become hard to shoulder, help to remind me my story's not over.
Through all chaos and fear it is peace that I wield, to no weapon of body or mind will I yield.
Katlyn has been a vocal advocate for mental wellness and resiliency for first responders by furthering her education to become a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC), becoming a part of the First Responder Provider Network, founding 1*Wellness to bring proven treatment modalities to the local community, and speaking about mental wellness at the Pulaski County FRSST's Resiliency Gala and to KMOV discussing a still present stigma surrounding mental health and first responders (link to interview here: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/189r671mxB/ ).
