Mr. William Glenn Jarrett

Mr. William Glenn Jarrett, age 84, of Rome, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at a local nursing facility.

Mr. Jarrett was born in Rome, Georgia, on May 17, 1941, a son of the late William Clem Jarrett and the late Gladys Lattie Hight Jarrett.

Glenn was a man of many words and interests. These included gardening, watching wrestling, listening to the police scanner, and making friends everywhere he went! He spent his working years as a trusted local mechanic, owning his own repair shop for many years, until he was frequently found napping under cars. Off to Auto Zone he went, where he spent several more years as your friendly neighborhood parts delivery driver. After retirement, he could be found in his garden most days. On Sunday mornings, before his health declined, you could find him in a pew at Shannon Community Church and in the afternoons his recliner catching a nap with his trusted canine companion, Kenzie. Of all the things he enjoyed, none superseded his love for his family. Being a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather brought him the greatest joy of all. To know Glenn, was to love him and he will be greatly missed by everyone who called him their friend.

Survivors include his devoted wife, Brenda Kay Crawford Jarrett; three daughters, Lesa Davis (Hughlon Ray Matthews), Susan Hall (Greg), Julie Jarrett; three grandchildren, Heather Weeks(Bradley), Will House, Audrey House; three great grandchildren, Tatum Weeks, Nash Weeks, and another bundle of joy on the way; one sister, Aline Knight.

According to his wishes, Mr. Jarrett was cremated and no further services are scheduled at this time.

Mrs. Smith was a person who had a a big heart. She would give everything she had to someone else if she thought it would help them. Her love knew no boundaries and whether it be spending time with her only sister, playing with her grandchildren, having deep conversations with her daughter, or being the life of the party, she gave 100%. In her downtime, she could be found sitting outside enjoying nature, walking in the parks, or visiting the aquarium. Her hobbies included listening to R&B - Mary J. Blige was her go to, watching comedy shows and Discovery Channel and she loved football - the Pittsburgh Steelers was her favorite team!

Survivors include her mother, Barbara Ann McCraw; husband, David Smith Jr.; one daughter, Chanel Tanisha Smith (Cedric Williams); two sons, Jarell Debias Smith and Davon Lamar Smith; eight grandchildren, Kasiyah Parson, Akeem Parson Jr., Deborah Parson, Daron East, Travon East Jr., Echo Williams, Avah Smith, Amari Smith; one sister, LaTonya Hernandez; special friend since childhood, Michelle, extended family and friends also survive.

Mrs. Sharon Ann Sykes

Mrs. Sharon Ann Sykes, age 66, of Cartersville, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Sykes was born in Birmingham, Alabama, on March 22, 1959, daughter of Linton Lewis Mathews and Mamie Hoskins Mathews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Howard Sykes.

Mrs. Sykes was known for her talent at doing just about anything she set her mind to. She worked hard as a child on her studies and was a shining example of a scholar. It started with her love of writing and she continued to even write short stories in adulthood. It is said that as a young student, she would sometimes write her siblings essays in school! Sharon went on to attend and graduate from Clayton State College where her love of writing also carried over to a love of artistry. It was in her spare time that she would sit and draw and her talent again shown through there as well. Sharon met the love of her life, Howard Sykes, whom she would marry and faithfully love for over 30 years, until his passing. Her loving and kind demeanor shown thru in their home. She was always welcoming and her open door policy for anyone who needed a place, no matter the circumstances, was widely known and appreciated by those she gave a landing spot to. Sharon was a go getter and loved to stay physically fit. Her coworkers at Georgia Tech would watch as she walked the campus instead of eating on her lunch break most days. She wanted to make sure to take good care of herself, just like she did for those around her. She only had one thing that would irritate her, and that was being awakened - everyone knew Sharon loved her sleep almost as much as she loved her family! It's all these things and more that were so special about Sharon that will be dearly missed by everyone who was fortunate to know her and love her.

Survivors include one son, Ricky (Donna) Sykes; two grandchildren, Keahri Sykes and Jayden Sykes; parents, Mamie Hoskins Mathews and Linton Lewis Mathews; two sisters, Linda Franklin and Mitzi Allen; two brothers, Linton Mathews Jr. and Tyrell Mathews; three nieces, Jaasiel Allen, Brittany Mathews, and Tamia Mathews; two nephews, Tyrell Mathews Jr. and John Franklin; two special friends, Ernesto and Porsche; extended family and friends also survive.
