🤔 How many sessions do I need?

👉The frequency and number of sessions can vary based on your condition and symptoms. 🫶For the best results, the Salt Therapy Association recommends a series of treatments. Many people use Dry Salt Therapy as a continuous preventative measure. 💓

💥Most clients with chronic conditions find that 2 – 3 sessions per week alleviate symptoms. Those who come for stress relief and relaxation simply come as often as they like.🙌

😃 What is a HALOTHERAPY session like?

👉 The sessions are meant to be relaxing and calming. Upon entering the Salt Room, you can sit and recline, and the lights will dim. You can listen to relaxing music, read a book or magazine, meditate, or simply enjoy a peaceful rest.
Once your treatment session begins, we encourage you to practice deep breathing, inhaling through your nose, to get the full benefit of the dry salt aerosol.

🧐 Is Salt Therapy the same as going to the beach?

👉 You will be happy to know...

🥳 Studies show that a 45-minute treatment in the Salt Cave equals to spending about 💥3 days by the beach. 💯

👌 While going to the beach and breathing in the ocean’s salt air is great for the body, salt therapy takes that feeling to a whole new level. The effects of breathing in the dry salt aerosol in our salt rooms are far greater than that of breathing in 💦wet air from the ocean.💨 Dry salt is able to move through both the upper and lower respiratory tracts where wet salt can only reach the upper airways.

💨Dry salt is negatively charged, therefore, able to revive cilia and speed up its motion. The cilia line our respiratory tract and are covered by a layer of mucous. When a foreign particle such as dust is inhaled, the job of the cilia is to beat causing the mucous to travel towards your mouth so it can be coughed out.

🥰 Salt therapy speeds up that process and, in some cases, where that process is non-existent it works to get it started.

During the winter season, the cold, dry environment can worsen the symptoms of respiratory illnesses.

Respiratory viruses tend to be much more resistant during this time of year.

Infants, young children, older adults, and people with chronic illnesses are more likely to develop respiratory illnesses in winter.

Did You Know?

Evidence and research about dry salt therapy (halotherapy) and the impact it has on people with certain respiratory conditions, has found that inhaled dry salt particles have bactericide, mucokinetic, hydrophilic, and anti-inflammatory properties, which may benefit in reducing inflammation of the entire respiratory tract and widening the airway passages.

A clean respiratory system may result in higher oxygen intake, increased energy, and an improved immune system.

'Nearly every state is reporting “high” or “very high” flu activity, according to tracking by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.'

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) causes infections of the lungs and respiratory tract.

When an adult gets RSV infection, they typically have mild cold-like symptoms, but some may develop a lung infection or pneumonia. RSV can sometimes also lead to worsening of serious conditions such as: Asthma, Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) – a chronic disease of the lungs that makes it hard to breathe.

Halotherapy can help alleviate some of the symptoms and encourage more normal breathing as well as helping to kill bacteria and viruses.

Halotherapy is also great for helping to boost immune resilience.

Unless you live in one of four states, the flu situation looks to be growing dire near you.

Eat your fresh fruits an Veggies!

Since cold and flu season are upon us, I thought it was a super important to do a
• Vitamin C post •
(Aka ascorbic acid)

We’ve probably all taken this supplement, many of us even have it at home now. Unfortunately, we’ve probably all been mislead as far as what exactly it is (or maybe some of y’all knew already 😃).

So what is “ascorbic acid”, the ingredient most commonly seen in vitamin C supplements? It can actually be derived from . . . are you ready for this? Corn (glucose), corn starch or rice starch. All of those are synthetic versions (one version actually uses acetone in the process - yes, the stuff used to remove fingernail polish). 😳

While neither of these ingredients are actually vitamin C, they can legally be called that. Synthetic versions actually act like a drug and can cause imbalances in our bodies.

Some of the best sources are acerola cherry, camu camu, alma berries, green pepper, kiwi, oranges (and other citrus fruits), guava, strawberries, papaya, plums, kale, spinach and broccoli—contain all the factors the body needs to derive the benefits from this vitamin. (Fresh fruits and veggies not processed, canned or dried.)

Another fun place natural vitamin C is found? Fresh milk from grassfed cows.

Sauerkraut is another one.

Something to keep in mind when looking for a supplement:
* vitamin C is water-soluble
* 1,000mg of vitamin C can’t be found in a whole-food supplement

Somewhere around 100mg is what’s recommended now. (No more than 2g)

But did you know that you also need calcium for your body to absorb the vitamin c?

A study from the American Heart Association found that “people who took 500 mgs of ascorbic acid had a 2.5 times faster progression of thickening of the carotid artery (hardening of the arteries) than people who took no supplement.” In an issue of Science, they reported that “synthetic vitamin C may contribute to the formation of genotoxins that can lead to cancer”.

Yikes!

Our bodies don’t store vitamin C, so we need to take in the amount we need every single day.

Ingredients to avoid:
Sodium Ascorbate
Calcium Ascorbate
Ascorbyl Palmitate

These troublesome ingredients can be found in supplements, foods (as an additive/preservative), flour or skin care items.

If you’re struggling with skin issues, respiratory issues, chronic sinus and headache problems... ditch the candles, plugins and synthetic fragrance in your products.

Bath & Body Works has a 13-page document on how harmful their wallflower plugins are 😖 contributing to respiratory issues, sinus issues headaches, organs, fertility...

It even says it could cause damage to your organs and unborn child right on the sheet 😭. An interesting fact: people that work in IVF labs aren't allowed to wear perfume, fragrance, use synthetic scented hand soaps, lotions, etc. Because it could cause harm to unborn children and fertility (and born/living humans as well!) – Both emit significant amounts of VOCs that could affect the embryos.

You can read the PDF here: https://www.bathandbodyworks.com/on/demandware.static/-/Sites-master-catalog/default/dw8adf230f/sds/24567958_SDS_400000001707.pdf

An easy tip when scanning ingredients on products-“Fragrance” is the ingredient we always want to avoid, because it’s an umbrella term many companies use to hide all kinds of harmful ingredients in them (it was approved years ago to allow companies to keep their ingredients a secret). So “fragrance” can be a lengthy list of harmful chemicals undisclosed but still say things like “paraben free” and in fact contain parabens. So if it says “fragrance” but appears to be “safe” or “clean” avoid it!!!!

According to NBC News, the JAMA Psychiatry journal published a report recently that said

"meditation is as effective as medication for anxiety and that practicing mindfulness meditation was shown to be as helpful for anxiety as taking a daily pill."

Did you know that salt therapy is being combined with mindfulness and meditation to help combat stress and anxiety?

Salt rooms are often designed for creating environments where you can unplug, relax, and breathe healthy air (or take a deep breath).

Combining the respiratory wellness benefits of breathing in micron-sized dry salt particles with various forms of meditation is creating unique salt therapy experiences.

Many salt rooms, such as Saltsations Holistic Wellness will incorporate various forms of guided meditation, mindfulness and breathwork exercises, sound baths, sound therapy, and yoga.
