This morning Don and I had the honor of visiting Anna K. Davie Elementary school for Career Day, representing Salmon Funeral Home & Crematory. We loved getting to spend time with the students and answer their questions… although it turns out they were much more interested in the funeral hearse lights and church trucks than anything about the work we do but we can’t blame them for that, those lights are pretty cool!

Their curiosity, excitement, and sweet (and sometimes funny 😅) questions made our morning. We’re always grateful for opportunities to be part of our community and help kids learn about the many different ways people serve others.

Thank you for having us—it was such a fun start to the day, Easter Weekend and SPRING BREAK!!! Enjoy the time away from school with your loved ones and always remember - be safe, be kind, buckle up and have some fun in the sun!

Our hearts are with our community after the devastating fire at the Floyd County Historic Courthouse. For generations, that building has stood right at the heart of downtown as a symbol of history, service, and community.

We’re keeping everyone in our thoughts and prayers, especially the employees, officials, and all the community members who depended on the services inside those walls. This loss reaches far beyond the building itself and into the everyday lives of so many.

We also want to extend our deepest gratitude to the incredible public safety teams - our firefighters, police, and emergency responders - who have worked so tirelessly at the scene. Your bravery and hard work in the face of this tragedy represent the very best of us.

In times like these, you really see what a community is made of. The strength, the resilience, and the way people come together and take care of one another. Just know, you’re not facing this alone.
