Maggie and Maggie! 🐾❤️

Sweet Maggie came to see us after her mom noticed her eye was swollen and red. We know how scary that can be, but Maggie was such a brave girl through it all!

After getting the care she needed, her personality really shined—she made sure to thank her tech with plenty of kisses and love 💕🐶

Reba 🐾❤️

Reba came in to see us after a dog fight, and it was clear she needed immediate care. After taking x-rays, they revealed a transverse distal radial and ulnar fracture.

Once we got her comfortable with pain medications and completed diagnostics, we carefully splinted her leg to stabilize the injury. Reba was able to go home with her mom and will be following up with her primary vet soon for continued treatment.

She was such a brave girl through it all, and we’re hoping for a smooth and speedy recovery 💕🐶

🔥 Hot, hot, and hotter… summer is on the way! 🐾☀️

Rising temperatures can be more than just uncomfortable—they can be dangerous for our pets. Dogs and cats are much more sensitive to heat, and it doesn’t take long for overheating to become a serious emergency.

As the days heat up, here are a few ways to keep your pets safe:
🐾 Never leave your pet in a parked car—even for a minute
🐾 Make sure fresh, cool water is always available
🐾 Avoid walks during peak heat (opt for early morning or evening)
🐾 Test the pavement with your hand—if it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for their paws
🐾 Provide shade and cool resting areas outdoors

Watch for signs of heat exhaustion like excessive panting, drooling, vomiting, or collapse.

If you notice any of these signs, seek emergency veterinary care immediately—heatstroke can escalate quickly.

Let’s keep our pets cool, safe, and happy all summer long! 💛

🌿 Got a green thumb?

As the weather warms up, many of us are getting back into the garden—but it’s important to remember that some common plants and gardening products can be dangerous for our pets.

Curious pups and kitties love to explore, dig, and sometimes taste-test what they find. Unfortunately, certain flowers, fertilizers, mulches, and pest control products can pose serious risks.

Here are a few quick tips to help keep your pets safe this season:
🐾 Research plants before adding them to your garden
🐾 Store fertilizers, pesticides, and tools securely
🐾 Avoid cocoa mulch, which can be toxic if ingested
🐾 Rinse paws after outdoor play to remove any chemicals
🐾 Watch for signs of illness like vomiting, drooling, or lethargy

If you think your pet may have gotten into something they shouldn’t, don’t wait—contact your vet right away.

A safe garden is a happy place for everyone—two-legged and four-legged alike! 💚

A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of meeting sweet Miss Maddie 🐾💕

She came to visit us after delivering three adorable kittens—what a strong mama! Her owner brought her in just to make sure all the kittens had arrived safely and that everything looked good. We always love seeing such dedicated pet parents looking out for their fur babies every step of the way.

Miss Maddie was an absolute sweetheart during her visit… especially when it came to butt scratches—those were definitely her favorite! 😄

We’ve been thinking about her and her little ones and hope they’re all doing wonderfully at home. 💗

Meet Joan 🐱💕

Joan is a beloved indoor/outdoor kitty who gave her family quite a scare when she was found hiding under the house with an injured shoulder. After bringing her to our ER for evaluation, our team performed a full exam and took X-rays to get to the bottom of her pain.

Her radiographs revealed something we don’t commonly see in cats — a luxated elbow. This type of injury is fairly uncommon in our feline friends and requires prompt treatment to prevent long-term complications.

Joan was carefully sedated, and our doctor was able to successfully reduce (put back into place) her elbow. We’re happy to share that the procedure went smoothly! 💪✨

During her stay, she received lots of love from our team. This sweet girl absolutely melted our hearts, and we are all hoping for a smooth and speedy recovery as she heals at home.

You’ve got this, Joan! 💖🐾

Meet Ghost 👻🐾

This handsome boy came to our ER after getting into a scuffle with another pup and starting to limp at home. Dog fights can be scary, and sometimes injuries aren’t obvious right away. In Ghost’s case, an infection had developed, causing discomfort and that noticeable limp.

Our team performed a thorough exam and took radiographs to make sure there were no fractures or other major concerns. Thankfully, his X-rays looked good! 🙌 After a course of medications to treat the infection and support his healing process.

After his X-rays, he showed off that sparkling smile with our sweet technician Sydney — and we couldn’t resist snapping a photo! 😁✨

We’re so proud of this brave boy and grateful his family brought him in when they noticed something wasn’t right. If your pet is limping after a fight or injury, don’t wait — even small wounds can lead to infection.

Way to go, Ghost! 💙🐶

Rocky stopped by NWGVEC for his third and final Panoquell injection — and we have the best update! 🎉🐾

His owner shared that he’s been doing SO much better, which is exactly what we love to hear. Panoquell is given as a series of consecutive injections over 3 days to help treat pancreatitis, and Rocky handled his treatment like an absolute champ.

Not only was he a total stud for his appointments, but he also made sure to soak up plenty of love from all of our techs. 💙 He quickly became a staff favorite with his sweet personality and brave attitude.

We’re so proud of you, Rocky! Keep feeling better, handsome boy!

Sweet Honey has really grown up on us at NWGVEC! 🍯🐾

Honey came in to see us recently for some vomiting, and our team jumped right in to make sure she was feeling better as quickly as possible. After her treatment, she was resting comfortably — and that’s when something extra special happened.

One of our sweet technicians, Maggie, gave Honey some love… and Honey remembered her! 💛 Maggie was Honey’s tech when she was just a tiny baby, and seeing them reconnect absolutely melted our hearts. It’s moments like these that remind us why we do what we do.

We’re so proud to watch our patients grow up and honored to be part of their journey — from their puppy days to their brave ER visits and beyond. Honey, we’re so glad you’re feeling better!
