Peer recovery support specialists at Valley Health are helping patients take the first step toward recovery. Through Project Engage, individuals with substance use disorders are connected to treatment and support—starting right at the hospital bedside. Thanks to a grant from the West Virginia Office of Drug Control Policy, Hampshire Memorial and War Memorial hospitals now have added resources to guide patients toward long-term recovery. During the month of September, the Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) Foundation sponsors a step challenge, encouraging participants to walk 60 miles during the month — one mile for every 1,000 miles of veins and arteries carrying blood and essential nutrients throughout your body.
