One thing I've realized the longer I do deep tissue massage: aggressively deep pressure is rarely the answer. I've said it before, but it bears repeating— massage does not have to hurt to be effective!

Now, on the flipside of that: discomfort ≠ pain, especially in deep tissue work. During a massage, you might feel intensity as layers of tension release or muscles begin to let go, but true pain is your body’s way of saying “too much.” The goa of deep tissue is productive pressure; enough to create change without forcing the body to guard or resist. 🌿

Did you know a simple walk outside is one of the most researched and effective ways to support your health? 🤓

Science shows that walking outdoors can:
✨ Reduce cortisol and stress levels
✨ Improve focus, memory, and creativity
✨ Support heart health and blood pressure
✨ Boost vitamin D and immune function
✨ Ease symptoms of anxiety and depression
✨ Enhance joint mobility and circulation

My parents are both well into their 60s and they are two of the healthiest people I know. They also both walk 5-6 miles 3x a week. There's no way that's a coincidence!

Take this as your sign to add a quick 15-20 minute outdoor into your daily routine! 🚶🏼‍♀️

Massage Therapist (noun):
/ mə-ˈsäzh ther-ə-pist /
One who skillfully rewires your body’s stress circuits, improves movement, and helps you find your neck again — all without needing Wi-Fi. 💁🏼‍♀️

✨ When a technique is held instead of rushed, the muscle has time to respond; not from force, but from safety. The nervous system calms, the tissue unwinds, and function restores itself in that simple moment of stillness.

Soften your touch. Don't force change on the tissues. Facilitate an environment in which your client's body feels capable of letting go of the tension and stress. ✨

Who else loves a simple and effective way to warm up and wake up all the different layers of muscles in the back? 🤗 I use this almost every session!

Give this one a try and let me know if your clients love it!

Okay! Before you jump down my throat for talking about the holidays already, let me lay out the details of why I'm doing so. 😅

1). My schedule fills up extremely fast. If I waited until November to post a seasonal holiday service, December would be halfway booked. That would leave very few appointments open for clients to book! As it so happens, November is already half booked. 🫣

2). Sharing a seasonal service earlier rather than later allows for you, as the client, to book your session BEFORE you feel overwhelmed and stressed by the holiday hustle and bustle! I am a huge advocate for booking the massage BEFORE you need it so bad that you're desperate. 🫠

I am by no means trying to rush the seasons, I'd love Autumn to last as long as possible. But the busy holiday season is coming! Don't forget to make your own wellbeing a priority. 🫶🏼

Pec work. ✨ So important and, at times, so underutilized! Do you suffer from shoulder pain? Upper back pain? Pesky pain in your rhomboids (you know the spot— right between your shoulder blades)? If you answered yes, you would most likely benefit from some focused pec work!

Ladies, this work is also for you! Women carry so much tension in their neck and shoulders. You would be doing yourself a disservice to shrug off pec work. Having said that, I understand that this area is vulnerable. The most important thing you can do is voice any concerns you may have to your massage therapist. A good massage therapist will help you understand the "why" of pec work and will work with you in finding a technique that you are both comfortable with. And remember, no matter if you need the work or not, it is always okay to say, "No, I'm uncomfortable with that". 🫶🏼
