THERAPY THURSDAY
One of the most common causes of heel pain isn’t actually in your foot.
It’s in your calf muscles.
When calves are tight, they increase tension on the plantar fascia the band of tissue that runs along the bottom of your foot.
That extra tension can lead to:
• Heel pain
• Arch strain
• Achilles tightness
• Foot fatigue
A simple calf stretch done daily can help reduce that strain.
Try this:
1️⃣ Stand facing a wall
2️⃣ Place one foot behind you
3️⃣ Keep your back heel on the ground
4️⃣ Lean forward until you feel the stretch in your calf
5️⃣ Hold 20–30 seconds
Small habits like this can make a big difference for your feet.

WOUND CARE WEDNESDAY
Dry, cracked heels may seem like a small problem but they can actually become open wounds if left untreated.
When the skin on your heel becomes too dry, pressure from walking can cause it to split. Those cracks can lead to:
✔ Pain when walking
✔ Infection risk
✔ Slow healing
✔ Serious complications for people with diabetes
Keeping heels moisturized and supported can help prevent deep cracks from forming.
If your heels are painful, splitting, or not improving, it may be time to have them evaluated.
Healthy skin is an important part of healthy feet.

That moment when you step outside… and instantly regret it.
One second you're walking to the car.
The next second you're doing an Olympic-level ice skating routine you never trained for.
Northern Michigan sidewalks are basically nature’s way of asking:
"How strong are your ankles today?"
Every winter we treat injuries from slips like:
• Twisted ankles
• Foot fractures
• Torn ligaments
• Bruised heels
If your morning walk to the mailbox turns into a full-body ice dance, your feet and ankles usually take the hit.
So remember:
✔ Take smaller steps
✔ Wear boots with traction
✔ Hold the railing
✔ Accept that winter sidewalks are the real villain
And if you do take a spill and something feels off — don’t just “walk it off.”

TRY IT TUESDAY
Not all shoe inserts are built the same.
A flat store insert might add a little cushion…
but it usually doesn’t provide real support.
Supportive inserts are designed to help stabilize your foot and reduce strain on the structures that take the most impact every day.
A quality insert should help with:
✔ Arch support
✔ Heel stability
✔ Plantar fascia strain
✔ Foot fatigue
That’s why we carry PowerStep inserts in the office. They provide structured support that many patients notice right away.
Good news:
PowerStep inserts are on sale through the month of March.
If your feet have been bothering you, this is a great time to try them.
Call us or stop by and we’ll help you find the right fit.

MOVE IT MONDAY
Your toes aren’t just along for the ride.
They help stabilize your entire body.
When toes stay cramped inside shoes all day, the small muscles in your feet weaken and that can contribute to:
• Arch fatigue
• Balance issues
• Heel pain
• Foot instability
Try this simple exercise today:
1️⃣ Stand barefoot
2️⃣ Spread your toes as wide as possible
3️⃣ Hold for 5 seconds
4️⃣ Repeat 10 times
Small movements like this help wake up the stabilizing muscles in your feet.
Strong feet support everything above them.

STILL HURTING?
If your first steps in the morning feel sharp…
that’s not something to just “walk off.”
Heel pain that sticks around usually isn’t random.
It’s stress.
It’s imbalance.
It’s lack of support.
Stretching helps.
New shoes help.
But if it keeps coming back, you’re treating symptoms not the source.
Pain that lingers deserves a real evaluation.
Let’s figure out what’s actually going on.

ALIGNMENT
starts at the foundation.
When your foot collapses inward, your body compensates upward.
Knee.
Hip.
Lower back.
The pain you feel higher up doesn’t always start there.
Structure under your foot can change everything.
If you’re constantly stretching, icing, or blaming your back… it might be time to check lower.
Let’s look at your alignment.

This isn’t off the shelf.
When heel pain keeps coming back…
When inserts help but don’t fully fix it…
When you’re tired of “almost better”…
That’s when precision matters.
Custom orthotics aren’t just thicker inserts.
They’re molded to your foot.
Built for your alignment.
Designed to control motion at the source.
That casting process you’re seeing?
That’s how we capture your exact structure not a generic arch, not a guess, not a one size fits most.
PowerStep inserts are a great first step for many patients.
But when pain persists, custom precision can make the difference.
If you’re still hurting, it may be time to look deeper.
Let’s talk.

You’re not crazy.🥳
If your first steps in the morning hurt…
If your arch feels tight halfway through the day…
If your heel throbs after work…
That’s not “just getting older.”
It might be structure.
Most over the counter inserts are just cushion.
They feel soft but they collapse fast.
PowerStep Pinnacle inserts provide real arch support and heel stability to help control motion and reduce strain on the plantar fascia.
For many people with mild to moderate heel pain, the right structured insert makes a noticeable difference.
Not everyone needs custom orthotics.
But everyone needs support.
If your shoes are doing nothing for you, let’s fix that.
