Parent Information Guide
Welcome! I truly want to thank the community for your interest in the Laughter Patch Summer Kids Yoga Program.
At The Laughter Patch, we believe children thrive when they are given tools to understand their bodies, regulate their emotions, and feel safe expressing themselves. This program is designed to nurture confidence, calm, resilience, and joy through movement, breathwork, mindfulness, and play.
Yoga for children is not about perfect poses — it is about learning how to breathe, move, feel, and regulate the nervous system in healthy ways.
Our classes combine yoga, breathwork, emotional awareness, sound healing, and mindfulness practices to help children build lifelong wellness skills.

Many children today experience overstimulation, anxiety, or emotional overwhelm. Yoga and mindfulness provide simple tools that help children return to calm and feel safe in their bodies.
Research shows that yoga and breathwork can help regulate the parasympathetic nervous system, improve focus, and support emotional resilience in developing children.

What Happens in a Typical Class
Each class is thoughtfully structured to support children's developmental needs and attention span.
Classes typically include:
Opening Circle
Children check in with how they are feeling and learn to identify emotions.
Breathwork
Children practice simple breathing techniques that help calm the nervous system.
Examples include:
• balloon breathing
• humming breath
• lion breath
• box breathing
Yoga Movement
Children learn playful yoga poses that build strength, balance, coordination, and body awareness.
Mindfulness or Emotional Skill
Children explore topics such as:
• calming big feelings
• kindness and empathy
• confidence and posture
• stress management
Games and Creative Activities
Yoga games, storytelling, and partner poses help children learn through movement and play.
Relaxation and Sound Healing
Each class ends with a short guided relaxation, sometimes accompanied by calming instruments such as singing bowls or chimes.
This allows the body to fully integrate the calming benefits of the practice.

Class Schedule
Classes are organized by age group to ensure that instruction is developmentally appropriate.
Ages 3–4
Little Sprouts Yoga
Play-based movement, storytelling, and imaginative yoga adventures.
Ages 5–7
Rainbow Kids Yoga
Introduction to breathwork, emotional awareness, and playful yoga flows.
Ages 8–10
Brave Mind Yoga
Focus on confidence, emotional tools, and deeper mindfulness practices.
Ages 11–13
Teen Mindfulness Yoga
Developing stress management skills, nervous system regulation, and confidence.

What Children Should Bring
Please send your child with:
• Comfortable clothing for movement
• A water bottle
• A yoga mat (optional – mats can be provided if needed)
Children will practice barefoot or with grip socks.

Safety and Supportive Environment
The Laughter Patch prioritizes a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all children.
Classes are:
• trauma-informed
• non-competitive
• focused on self-expression rather than performance
Children are always encouraged to listen to their bodies and participate at their own comfort level.

Parent Communication
Parents will receive:
• updates on program themes
• tools children are learning in class
• optional mindfulness exercises that can be practiced at home
Our goal is to help children build skills that extend beyond the yoga mat and into their everyday lives.

Registration Information
Space in each group is limited to 12 kids per class to ensure each child receives individual attention.
