-Informed Decision Making-

When faced with a decision, and you’re wanting as much information about it as possible. A great way to ask informative questions is with the B.R.A.I.N acronym. 🧠

When asking these questions, it really helps slow the conversation down so you can feel as comfortable and confident in your decision as possible. 🧡

It’s world Doula week! 🤍

Why do I love being a doula? Well first off, there is truly nothing like it. Watching families grow, learn, and succeed in parenthood is why I love being a doula. Parenthood is not easy! Being that support while navigating through this journey, is why I love being a doula. Watching your clients achieve the birth they envision, is why I love being a doula. Being the calm when things aren’t going as envisioned, is why I love being a doula. ✨

Here’s a couple of photos from one of my favorite births. She was truly inspiring, and that smile on her face is the biggest reason why I love being a doula. 🖤

« Willow » By: Anonymous

I am a willow tree,
Strong, yet fluid

graceful.

I can bend with the wind,
but my roots are tough,

indestructible.

Opening to birth my child
is flowing with the wind:

from a soft and gentle breeze
to a stormy gale
back to a soft and gentle breeze.

My body is strong, but flexible.
It is my friend, it knows how to open.
I am a friend to my body

eating well, walking, and loving myself.

I shall birth safely, freely, openly . . .

among my loved and trusted ones.

I am the willow, flexible

beautiful resilient
endowed with the power of surrender

to the wind rustling through my leaves,

my branches.

My roots reach deep into Mother Earth
Anchored in Her strength
I bring forth life

In joy!

💙 Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awarness Month 💙

1 in 4 parents will miscarry.
3,500 SUID deaths happen each year according to the CDC.

This month we remember all the precious little babies that were gone too soon. Not one experience is the same, but we remember each and everyone of them. Not just this month but every day.💗

Newborn Tummy Guide. ✨

“How much is my newborn supposed to be eating?”

This question is one that comes up quite a bit. Your newborns are always changing and growing day by day. Here is a little visual to see and compare the size from day one, to day three, to week one, then lastly to month one. Baby’s stomach goes from a cherry to a large egg in just a short month. 💛

What does the umbilical cord do?

The umbilical cord carries nutrients and oxygen from the placenta to the baby then carries waste material out. Umbilical cords have two arteries and one vein. The arteries transport the babies waste, which is eventually disposed through your kidneys. The vein transports oxygen and nutrients from your placenta to the baby. The umbilical cord is surrounded by a gelatin like substance called Wharton’s Jelly which helps protect the vein and arteries.

It’s world breastfeeding week! 💗

Not every breastfeeding journey is the same. One is not better than the other and they all deserve to be celebrated ✨

Some fun facts about breastfeeding & breastmilk just because it seems fitting, given what week it is 😉

Your milk changes at night time and produces more melatonin to help baby sleep. 😴

You burn anywhere between 300-500 calories in a day when breastfeeding. 🤱🏻

When breastfeeding you produce the “love hormone” also known as oxytocin. 🥰

Validation is very important. What you say can effect them more than you think, especially when it comes to the postpartum period.

Instead of saying “You always wanted to be a parent”
Try saying “I see you trying, you’re doing a great job”

Instead of “Well it’s because of this, and you need to do this instead”
Try saying “No one has it all figured out”

I’m sure we have had a time in our life where a little validation could have made all of the difference. ✨🤍
