Growth doesn’t happen by accident. It takes partners, opportunities, and employees willing to step up and learn.

In 2025, Sunrise staff participated in professional development through conferences, Project Leadership Roseburg, and targeted training that strengthens how we support the people we serve.

We’re grateful to SourceAmerica for investing in staff development aligned with their mission to expand employment opportunities for people with disabilities. With their support, we have five newly certified employment professionals and a credentialed benefits counselor, along with staff who continue to bring new skills and ideas back to their teams.

And yes… the banner letters didn’t quite cooperate. But the learning did.

Thank you to the employees who raise their hands, lean into growth, and keep building a stronger Sunrise.

Strong teams don’t happen by accident.

Throughout the year, Sunrise managers came together for quarterly offsite meetings to step back from the day-to-day, share ideas, work through challenges, and stay aligned around our mission. These conversations help us support our staff better and keep our focus where it belongs, on the people we serve.

We’re grateful for a management team that shows up with thoughtfulness, accountability, and a genuine commitment to doing the work well.

Good leadership is intentional, and it matters.

Earlier this year, Sunrise board members came together for a strategic planning day that helped set the tone for the work ahead. While there’s still plenty of planning to do, taking time to step back, ask good questions, and align around priorities is an important part of responsible governance.

We’re grateful to our board members for their time, care, and commitment, and to The Ford Family Foundation for supporting this work through a planning grant. Taking time to plan with intention helps ensure we continue serving our community well.

Our 2025 Christmas Party was a big, joyful day for our trainees, with turkey bowling, a full holiday meal, Santa, and plenty of gifts. What made it special was the care and effort behind it. So many staff members planned, organized, cooked, set up, cleaned up, and made sure everyone felt welcome and included.

We wrapped things up with a staff appreciation raffle, a small way to say thank you to the people who bring patience, creativity, and heart to their work every day. We’re grateful for our staff and the community they create.

Christmas Eve feels like the right moment for kindness.

As part of our 2025 Make a Difference Day event, 18 volunteers came together to paint kindness rocks, each one carrying a message meant to brighten someone’s day. Simple, hands-on, and full of heart, this project was a reminder that connection doesn’t have to be complicated to matter.

We’re grateful to the volunteers who share their time, creativity, and care throughout the year. These small moments add up.

Sometimes the best Christmas gift really 𝘪𝘴 a new floor extractor.

Thanks to a grant from the C. Giles Hunt Charitable Trust, Sunrise was able to add new commercial cleaning equipment to support our janitorial job training program. Investments like this strengthen day-to-day operations, expand the services we can offer, and build experience that translates directly to competitive employment.

We’re grateful for partners who understand that practical support and solid infrastructure play an important role in building opportunity and dignity at work.

There are many barriers to employment and community connection. Sometimes, the hardest ones are the most basic.

When someone is starting a new job or navigating an unexpected setback, choices like laundry detergent, food staples, pet food, or gas can quickly become impossible trade-offs. While referrals and phone numbers help, they don’t always remove the immediate barriers or preserve dignity.

Thanks to Pacific Power Foundation, we were able to launch our Employee and Client Resource Center, stocked with essentials like food, hygiene products, cleaning supplies, and gas cards. The Center meets people where they are, helping create stability during times of transition.

We’re grateful for partners who understand that small, practical support can make a big difference.

This year, we completed Tiny Home #2, an exciting milestone in a project that opened new doors at Sunrise.

Thanks to Pacific Power Foundation for the seed funding that helped get this project started. Their early support made it possible to build momentum and expand hands-on job training opportunities for the people we serve.

Tiny Home #2 is now available for display or for sale. If you’re interested or want to learn more, we’d love to connect. Projects like this allow our trainees to build practical skills, confidence, and pride in work that has a real-world outcome.

Support from our customers across our retail, wood products, and commercial janitorial programs makes a real difference behind the scenes.

In 2025, that support helped fund long-overdue infrastructure improvements, including a new warehouse roof, new gutters across the mill and warehouse, and replacement of our retail delivery truck. These investments protect our facilities, improve safety, and keep operations running smoothly across all our programs.

We’re grateful to the customers who choose to work with Sunrise. Your business helps sustain our operations and supports meaningful training and employment for the people we serve.

One of our biggest behind-the-scenes upgrades in 2025 was a new point-of-sale system across our Sunrise Shop & Save stores, which serve rural communities throughout Douglas County, including Roseburg, Reedsport, Myrtle Creek, Winston, and Sutherlin.

Thanks to the generosity of our funders, the system is now in place in four of our five stores, with implementation underway at the final location. This upgrade creates a more consistent retail experience while supporting hands-on job training for our trainees, who are learning real-world retail skills on a modern system used by retailers beyond our local community. It also helps streamline transactions for staff and customers alike.
