The spinal system contains not just bones, but also nerves and muscles. The function of the bony part of the spine is to protect the spinal cord and nerve roots that are contained within the spinal canal and provide a site of attachment for muscles and ligaments. Movement of the spine is controlled by the contraction of muscles which are attach to the spine.

Dear Patients:

As you know I have retired from active medical practice to take a sabbatical to pursue my international humanitarian projects. While I miss seeing my patients and the operating room, I choose to follow these projects that I had been involved in for a long time and see them to completion.

We are well on the way to complete one Polyclinic in Ghana and the big hospital is underway in the time frame of about two years. Even though my commitment does not allow me to continue full time Neurosurgery I have some time to counsel and advise. I am doing that time to time and I am thinking to open it for more patients due to frequent requests.

Most back and neck pain can be treated without medical or surgical intervention by adjusting your lifestyle, mattress or pillow, exercise and the occasional anti inflammatory. Certain percentages may require imaging or physical therapy and a small percentage my need interventional pain management and even smaller percentages may need surgery.
