💙 Autism Awareness Month: Understanding AuDHD 💙

During Autism Awareness Month, we’re highlighting AuDHD—the intersection of Autism and ADHD. Many individuals experience traits of both, and understanding this overlap can make a meaningful difference in how families access care, resources and support.

AuDHD isn’t a formal diagnosis, but it’s a helpful way to describe when ADHD‑related challenges with attention and impulsivity coexist with Autism‑related differences in communication, sensory processing and routines. Every individual’s experience is unique, and early understanding can lead to more personalized and effective support.

At BHC Alhambra, we’re committed to creating compassionate pathways for neurodivergent youth and their families. If you have concerns about your child’s development or mental health, we’re here to help you navigate next steps with clarity and care.

April is Alcohol Awareness Month. For teens, alcohol can have a bigger impact than many people realize. Because the brain is still developing, alcohol use can affect memory, decision-making, mood and overall mental health. It can also increase the risk of anxiety, depression and risky behaviors that may have lasting consequences.

Supporting teens means listening without judgment and reminding them that help is always available. Open conversations today can make a meaningful difference for their well-being tomorrow.

🌈 Transgender Day of Visibility

Today we celebrate the strength, joy and brilliance of our transgender community. Visibility is about being seen, valued and supported; not about performing or proving anything. Whether you’re out, questioning, or exploring your identity privately, your truth is real and worthy. At BHC Alhambra, we honor trans people today and every day, and we remain committed to creating spaces where everyone can show up safely and authentically.

😴 Sleep Health: Fact vs. Myth

Myth: “You have to get a perfect eight hours every night or the day is ruined."

Fact: Healthy sleep is about patterns. Your body benefits from consistency, gentle routines and small habits that support rest. Even if your sleep varies, you can still build a rhythm that helps you feel more grounded and energized.

A mental health crisis can turn life upside down, for both teens and their families. The path back to stability often takes time and the right level of support.

Our adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) helps teens ages 13-17 build coping skills and build meaningful steps toward lasting mental health recovery.

You are not supposed to have everything figured out yet.

Your job right now is to learn, to grow, to make mistakes and discover who you are.
