- Sleep among U.S. teens has worsened overall: about 75% reported insufficient sleep in 2023, up 8% since 2007.

- Possible causes include earlier school start times, more extracurricular activities, and less parental monitoring.

- Tips to improve sleep: Dim lights, limit technology before bed, keep a consistent sleep schedule, maintain a cool, dark, and quiet sleeping space, get bright light exposure in the morning.

Nearly a quarter of teens sleep 5 hours or less per night and the majority sleep less than 8 hours. The problem is pervasive and technology doesn't seem to be the main culprit, according to a new report.
