Cognitive distortions are a learned and patterned way of thinking that can be difficult to recognize. They often increase emotional distress and heighten symptoms of anxiety or depression. They can be challenging to identify and change.

However, therapy can help you examine these thoughts and build healthier thinking patterns with the goal to reduce emotional distress and achieve long term wellness.

💛 We Give Thanks! Coming to the Fort Bend County Fair 2026, the Mobile Sensory Calm Down Corral Unit.
The Sensory Committee, lead by JJ & Coral Casias know firsthand how overwhelming busy events can feel for children with sensory sensitivities. The corral gives families a calm, safe, and supportive environment where kids can take a break, reset, and then get back to enjoying the fair. The Mobile Sensory Unit will travel to community events throughout the year and debut at the 2026 fair.
A heartfelt thank you to our sponsors, donors, committee members, and the Fort Bend County Fair Association— for their support.

The way we show up shapes our children’s inner world, the place they grow inside long before they grow into the outside world.

When we meet life with calm, they learn what calm feels like.
When we move through stress with awareness, they learn that big feelings are safe to navigate.

Be the light they can look toward.
Be the calm they can borrow.
Be the steady in their storm. 🌟

This Thursday, November 20th, is Children's Grief Awareness Day. Children's emotional experiences are just as real and valid as those of adults. Too often, their grief is overlooked or minimized simply because they are young. Recognizing and honoring their pain builds trust and teaches them that their feelings matter. If a child in your life is grieving a loss, your love and presence are what they need most as they walk this journey.

Remember:

- Rest is part of God’s design (Mark 6:31).
- Your worth isn’t measured by busyness.
- Boundaries honor both God and those you serve.
- Cast your burdens on Him (1 Peter 5:7) and trust Him with outcomes.

Your calling includes caring for you, too. 🛋️

1 in 11 children or an estimated 6.4 million children in the United States will experience the death of a parent or sibling by age 18. (Judi’s House/JAG Institute, 2025)

Much like adults, children grieve in different ways. Children express their grief depending on their developmental stage. Additionally, grief often shifts and evolves as they grow.

The best way to help a grieving child is to keep routines consistent and create a safe space where they can share their feelings in ways that make sense to them.
