We Need Your Input!

For over a decade, the Minnesota Brain Injury Alliance has been hosting the bi-annual Consumer and Family Conference, aimed at providing free workshops and sessions for people with brain injury, family members, and loved ones. We have always sought to create an inclusive and empowering environment for all attendees. However, we have received feedback from some community members who expressed discomfort with the term "consumers" being used to refer to individuals with brain injuries and their families.

In response to this valuable feedback, we have decided to rename the conference to better reflect our commitment to inclusivity and respect for everyone involved. We believe that language matters, and we want to ensure that the conference's name aligns with our core values. We value your opinion and invite you to participate in this important decision-making process.

We encourage all members of our community to submit their suggestions and ideas for the new conference name. Please share your submissions here: https://www.braininjurymn.org/registration/renaming-cfc/. Let's work together to find a name that represents the strength, resilience, and unity of our community. The new name will be unveiled at our upcoming Fall conference, where we will continue our journey of support, education, and empowerment for all those affected by brain injury.

Thank you for being a part of this positive change and for helping us shape the future of our conference.

MEETING TODAY

Drunk and Distracted Driving can result in not only injury to one’s body but can result in brain injury to those impacted.

Hi, my name is Janice Podzimek. I am the Drunk and Distracted Driving Survivor Advocate for the Brain Injury Alliance of Arizona. I’m a Certified Brain Injury Specialist and trained in Mental Health First Aid. I facilitate the National Drunk and Distracted Driving Support Group for brain injury survivors who have been impacted by the negligence of a drunk or distracted driver.

This group meets on the last Friday of each month at 3pm (Central Time) virtually on Zoom. This group is co-facilitated by Wendy Hoffman of the Minnesota Brain Injury Alliance.

This is a survivors-only virtual group for those who have survived an accident where they were injured by a drunk driver or a distracted driver.

The focus is on living well with brain health challenges from a brain injury.

Attendees are invited to share and learn as part of their healing journeys.

Survivors may register at the link in our bio or by clicking here: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZ0pce6sqDMtH9NplnUEFCFrLXpbsL5KbDIF #/registration

Katrina and Alec had the pleasure of connecting with so many wonderful people from the Red Lake Nation and providing vital outreach and information about brain injury and the Minnesota Brain Injury Alliance and Minnesota Stroke Association supports and services. The engagement and enthusiasm we witnessed were truly inspiring and we are honored to have been a part of it.

Stay tuned for more upcoming events. Together, let's make a positive impact on the well-being of our communities!
