Cupping is an amazing healing therapy to move blood and qi stagnation to relieve muscle pain. Often considered a reverse massage, it allows blood to pool in the area where the cup is attached. With fresh blood in the area, it brings in nutrients to nourish the area. In addition, the blood is also able to locate waste and carry it away as it circulates the body. This is part of the reason cupping is such a powerful therapy in healing.

Photographed is how I typically perform fire cupping. I will heat up the rims of the cup and check the temperature to see if it is comfortable prior to attaching it on the patient. Once attached, I will leave the cups on for 5-10 minutes.

I wanted more practice on needling the back shu points while using my new smokeless moxas. The Moxa gives off a small incense scent and warms the area.

My model was so relaxed that they fell asleep during this experiment.
