Did you know? October is Substance Use/Abuse Prevention Month! As addiction professionals, we strive to help individuals and their families who have been impacted by addiction to substances and process disorders. But we also support our Prevention colleagues in their endeavor to stop the misuse from occurring. Research shows that evidence based programs targeted towards adolescents and schools reduces the rate of youths that engage with substances. This means fewer people likely to become addicted, fewer families impacted, and safer and healthier communities.

The SUD field has become heavily involved with, and integrated within the criminal justice field within the past few decades- and moreover in recent years. As strides are continuing to be made in the Specialty or Treatment Court space which help our clients overall, looming budget cuts and institutional changes will also likely see more SUD and Co-occurring clients becoming involved in the Justice sector. It is imperative that SUD professionals are up to date on modern Justice trends and can help their justice-involved clients navigate an often difficult journey. Learn more about how you can help your justice-involved clients at this year's UNITE 2025 NAADAC annual conference.

The Justice-Involved track at UNITE 2025 will explore strategies to support individuals navigating both the justice system and recovery. These sessions will give you the tools to create meaningful change in your community. https://www.naadac.org/ac25-schedule
