📣 The Michigan Association of Addiction Professionals (MAADAC) is currently seeking passionate, dedicated professionals to join our Board of Directors.

We are looking for individuals who are creative, ambitious, and team-oriented, and who bring strengths in one or more of the following areas:
💻 Technology (website management, social media, IT)
🏥 Substance use disorder prevention, treatment, or other aspects of recovery
🩵 Lived experience
🙋 Ethics and professional standards
🎤 Public policy and advocacy
🤝 Networking, marketing, and community outreach
🎉 Event planning

Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be a current MAADAC member
- Must be available to attend monthly virtual board meetings and virtual committee meetings as needed
- Must be able to attend the annual in-person strategic planning meeting:
Friday, June 19 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Saturday, June 20 from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Location: TBD
- Must be able to attend and actively participate in the Annual MAADAC Conference

The Board of Directors at MAADAC, the Michigan Association for Addiction Professionals, wants to thank everyone who was able to attend our conference. From our wonderfully dedicated Board, our amazing Sponsors, the variety of awesome presenters, and all of our MAADAC members and non-members alike who attended our event – without all of you, our conference would not have been possible.

We welcomed around 120 dedicated professionals to the Crowne Plaza hotel in Lansing, where we learned about a variety of hot-button SUD related topics, earning up to 9 MCBAP and NAADAC approved continuing education credits.

MAADAC was glad to be part of the Community Resource Expo at Portage Public Schools’ “One Choice: Protecting Futures” Opioid Education Event last night. Attendees got to see what prevention, treatment, crisis, and recovery resources were available in Southwest Michigan, as well as hear the incredible yet heartbreaking story of Becky Savage, who lost her two teenage sons to an accidental overdose- an unfortunately all too common story for those of us working in the SUD field.

Board Member Eric Horwood was present to talk with the public on what MAADAC is doing to help improve the quality of services rendered by Addiction Professionals in the State as well as talk to prospective college students about what a career as an Addiction Professional could look like. A special thanks to Lauren who volunteered to help Eric work the table at this event.

REGISTRATION INFO TO COME SOON! Save the Date for 3/15/2026-3/16/2026. We've started confirming a solid speaker lineup and we are looking forward to sharing with all of you. This going to be a great event where you can learn from experts while networking with your peers from around the state. There is a discount for registration if you are a NAADAC/MAADAC Member, so make sure your Association Membership is up to date before registering!

CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS: We are looking to round out our Conference with some additional presentations. We are looking for speakers who are willing to present Monday 3/16/2025 for either Keynote or Breakout Sessions. Presentation topics should relate to the core theme of our conference: Treatment, Prevention, and Recovery in relation to Substance Use Disorder. We’d love to have trainings on treatment modalities, case management, co-occurring disorders, neurobiology of addiction, and anything in between. Have a training that doesn’t quite meet that list? Send it to us anyway and we’ll take a look! We offer room and mileage reimbursements to presenters if requested.

Please submit your application to maadac.assistant@gmail.com.

Send us an email with the Title of your presentation, 3 Learning Objectives of your presentation, your Resume or CV and biography, and at least 3 professional references/sources used in the creation of your presentation. If you already have a completed PowerPoint and want to send that with your application too, that would be appreciated. Please also let us know if your presentation has already been previously approved for MCBAP, DHHS, Social Work, NAADAC, or APA credits.
