This holiday season, we witnessed an incredible example of teamwork and generosity. Volunteers from Johanna Shores - a Senior Living Community went above and beyond, stepping outside their regular community to lend a hand at Optage Meals.

Many years ago, Optage Hospice Chaplain Jenny Schroedel provided support to a young man who struggled with regrets and questions after his wife died. He eventually found peace by accepting that we all love imperfectly, moment by moment. Like him and so many who grieve, as we live more deeply into the questions we ask ourselves, we can also bring gentleness toward ourselves and others.

In love, there is suffering. This can be profound in a season of caregiving as we say goodbye day by day — or when an unexpected death breaks open our world. And yet, God is mysteriously at work.
