Rotator cuff injuries are caused by either traumatic events like falls, motor vehicle accidents, heavy lifting or degenerative changes from repetitive stress, aging, and poor health factors.
The rotator cuff is a group of four muscles that surround and stabilize the shoulder joint.ย The four muscles are the Supraspinatus, Infraspinatus, Teres minor and Subscapularis
Symptoms:ย
Pain in the shoulder, especially when reaching overhead or behind the back
Weakness in the arm
Limited range of motion
Clicking or popping sounds in the shoulder
Diagnosis:
Physical exam, X-rays, and MRI scan.
Treatment:
Treatment is usually conservative and can include chiropractic and physical therapy care aimed to reduce inflammation, To strengthen the muscles and improve range of motion.
Medications: Anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) to relieve pain.
Surgery: May be necessary for complete tears or severe cases.
