It's true! The added protein you eat does not automatically increase your muscle mass. Nutritional protein does contains amino acids which are the building blocks of muscle, but you absolutely need physical activity to encourage growth & added strength. Otherwise, the extra protein you eat can result in more body fat - especially if you consume more calories than you use.

One side note: Eating extra protein can help preserve the muscle you already have - especially during "muscle wasting" diseases such as cancer.
