There are many beliefs about mental health in the Black community shaped by survival, cultural values, and historical harm. Struggling doesn’t cancel strength! Seeking support is an act of care, not weakness.
Therapy provides a safe space to process stress, trauma, and experiences that don’t resolve on their own. It can work alongside faith, family, and community support. Prioritizing your mental health is not just self-care — it’s self-preservation. 💛

Thank you to Rachel Schrager for inviting me to speak at the South Florida chapter of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers. It was a pleasure discussing the importance and necessity of self-care, and how it directly impacts job performance, communication, mental health, focus, productivity, and overall well-being.

Burnout is real—and it’s debilitating. Recognizing the signs early and intervening proactively is essential for sustaining high performance and protecting mental health.

If your organization would benefit from this type of training or workshop, I welcome the opportunity to connect.

Thank you so much to Rachel Schrager for inviting me to speak at the South Florida chapter of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers. It was truly a pleasure to talk about the importance and necessity of self-care, and how it directly impacts job performance, communication, mental health, focus, productivity, and overall happiness.

Burnout is real—and it’s debilitating. We must make it a priority to recognize the signs and intervene before it gets to that point

💡 Study smarter, not harder!

Taking intentional breaks can actually boost focus and memory … but only if they help your brain reset instead of distract you. 🌿

Here are a few ways to make your study breaks more effective and energizing: stay screen-free, move your body, and try out the Pomodoro method for balanced productivity.

📚 Test season can bring on a lot of anxiety … but with the right strategies, you can set yourself up for success before, during, and after the exam. 🌿

Whether it’s spacing out your study sessions, taking a few deep breaths mid-test, or rewarding yourself after, small habits can make a big difference in managing stress and boosting confidence.

🎓 Transitioning after high school can be challenging… especially for young adults on the spectrum.

In this clip, Dr. Benson Fox and Dr. Staci Weiner discuss some of the biggest hurdles students face, including loss of structure, greater demands on executive functioning, and navigating unspoken social rules. All of which can heighten anxiety during transitions. 💬

So true.

So true.

Most people say they want change, but very few want the cost that comes with it.
Change is not scary by itself. Loss is.
Loss of comfort, loss of identity, loss of familiar habits, even loss of familiar suffering.

We cling to routines that drain us because they are known.
We stay in cycles we complain about because they feel predictable.
We call it patience, timing, or self care, but most of the time it is just comfort wearing a smarter mask.

Real change always takes something away before it gives anything back.
