PART 1 (of 5) We lost our Lucie in 2020 when we needed her the most. At only 4 years old, she she died from a common Frenchie condition. It wasn’t until she passed that we realized what a great therapy dog she would have been…she seemed to sense our anxiety and would lie right in top of us like a weighted blanket…and take long snorting breaths. And if you weren’t following her calming breathing pattern, you were just now giggling from the noises she made. She was there for us during the most difficult year of our life. Enter Theo…the FORCE that was meant to be the OT therapy dog…that Lucie never got to be. He has come with many surprises that all the research did not prepare me for. What I least expected is that he seems to ONLY have eyes for me. He is my protector. He lives to look deeply into my eyes. He has no interest in helping others 😂 But he’s still only a baby, and has a lot of training and growing up to do. I wish I had them both, but they each came to deliver different messages to us, and one in common: “If you want to make God laugh, make plans.” I do not know what our future holds but I’ve learned so much about the realities of raising and preparing for a therapy dog, ESPECIALLY a
