🛠️💛 Collaborative group at Sawdust Marietta 💛🛠️

We had a great time hosting an intimate networking event at Sawdust Marietta with a group of professionals all focused on helping special needs families in our community.

This was more than just a meeting. It was a chance to connect, share ideas, build relationships, and create memories while continuing to find better ways to serve the families we work with every day.

Thank you to Shanna and the team at Nadler Biernath: Special Needs and Elder Law for partnering with us and helping bring everyone together. Their work supporting families through special needs planning, estate planning, and long term care is incredibly important.

🌿🛠️ Sawdust Moms Craft Night! What a Night! 🛠️🌿

We had an incredible time at our Sawdust Moms Craft Night! From start to finish, it was a night full of building, laughter, and connection.

Everyone walked away with their own handcrafted planter box and more importantly, time spent together outside of the everyday routine. 🪴

💛 This event also supported Able Hands , helping continue our mission of providing vocational and life skills opportunities for teens and adults with special needs.

Thank you to all the amazing moms who came out and made it such a great night! We’re already looking forward to the next one!

🪵 Introducing Woodchips Pediatric Therapy by Sawdust OT 🪵

We’re excited to announce Woodchips, a new division of Sawdust OT serving children ages 6 months to 7 years, launching July 2026.

🌱 What is Woodchips?
Woodchips is our early development program focused on laying the foundation skills children need before they ever pick up real tools. We emphasize helping children reach key developmental milestones through a more traditional pediatric therapy approach while still maintaining the unique, hands-on, purpose-driven style that defines Sawdust OT. Through structured play and guided interaction, we help children grow in a way that is both engaging and meaningful.

🔧 What We Focus On:
• Developing fine motor skills (grasp, coordination, hand strength)
• Improving sensory processing and self-regulation
• Building communication, speech, and language skills
• Encouraging social interaction, play, and engagement with others
• Strengthening attention, direction-following, and early problem-solving
• Supporting daily routines like feeding, dressing, and transitions

This session will cover:

✔️ Tips to help navigate the approval process

👩‍🏫 The session will be led by Jami Stocks, Application Director of Together We Care, a nonprofit disability agency dedicated to supporting disabled Georgians. Jami brings both professional expertise and personal experience as the mother of three autistic children, helping families access critical resources and services.

💙💛 What an amazing day at the Georgia Capitol for Down Syndrome Awareness Day! 💛💙

Sawdust OT was proud to be there advocating, raising awareness, and standing alongside so many incredible families and organizations who are working to create more opportunity, inclusion, and support for individuals with Down syndrome.

We also had the chance to meet with House Representatives and be part of meaningful conversations about advocacy, access to care, and the importance of building a stronger future for the communities we serve.

We are incredibly thankful to be part of this mission and proud to represent Sawdust OT beyond the clinic walls. Awareness matters. Advocacy matters. And today was a powerful reminder of how important it is to keep showing up.

🍀 Happy St. Patrick’s Day from Sawdust OT! 🍀

We’re feeling extra lucky today; not because of four-leaf clovers, but because of the incredible apprentices, families, and staff that make Sawdust OT what it is every single day. 💚

From painting projects to building creations and sharing plenty of laughs along the way, our crew has been busy bringing a little Irish luck (and a lot of hard work) into the shop! 🛠️🍀

🐝🔨 The Bees Are Back… and So Are the Sawdust OT Carpenter Bee Traps! 🔨🐝

Spring is here, which means carpenter bee season has officially begun! Our apprentices at Sawdust Occupational Therapy are excited to announce the return of our Annual Carpenter Bee Trap Build, and we’ll be accepting orders starting March 16th through April 20th.

Each trap is handcrafted in our workshop by our apprentices, giving them the opportunity to practice real woodworking skills, build confidence, and create something truly useful for the community. These traps are not only effective at protecting your decks, fences, and homes from carpenter bees, they also represent the hard work and craftsmanship of the amazing individuals in our program.

💛 Even better, every purchase directly supports the Able Hands nonprofit, helping provide vocational training, life-skills programs, and social opportunities for teens and adults with special needs. When you purchase a trap, you’re not just solving a bee problem… you’re helping build brighter futures.
