When you create a boundary, you are not creating a suggestion.
You are creating a standard.
And every standard requires a consequence.
Not to punish.
Not to control.
But to protect the integrity of what you said mattered.
If someone violates your boundary and nothing happens, you didn’t have a boundary. You had a preference.
The consequence is not about anger.
It is about alignment.
If you say:
“I don’t tolerate disrespect.”
Then what happens when someone disrespects you?
Do you explain it away?
Do you minimize it?
Do you stay and hope it improves?
Or do you calmly remove access?
Consequences teach people how to engage with you.
More importantly, they teach you whether you believe yourself.
