For Erin Athey 🩷
Last week our community lost an amazing woman and devoted wife and mother. When I heard the news, I was so saddened. I feel guilty feeling it as much as I have because I wasn't a close friend or family member, but there are just some people in this world that give off so much warmth and light that you feel connected immediately. Erin was that person. She was truly special and a gift to everyone who knew her.
Our team only had the priveledge of seeing her every few months over the past three years, but every interaction was genuine. She was always speaking lovingly about her husband and children. It was clear that they were her world and she was so proud to be theirs. When I saw her car pull in the SmartMED drive, I always looked forward to her huge, beautiful smile and having a moment to chat. Our team will miss having those moments with her.
Erin fought an incredibly courageous battle with breast cancer. It was long, and I'm sure significantly harder than what she led on, but she did it with so much strength - it never appeared to shake her spirit. She was always so bright.
Erin would want us to use our platform to bring awareness to the importance of early breast cancer detection. Please, let this post be a reminder that you needed to schedule your mammogram. Early detection is so important.
I also want to ask that if you feel moved to do so, that you consider donating to the following organization in her honor. Her beautiful obituary lists the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University's Glenn Family Breast Center as her charity of choice. It's just like her to use her passing as an opportunity to help others live.

We will miss you Erin, but you will never, ever be forgotten. And I promise you that we will take great care of Justin, Avery, Annie and Jake.
With love,
Stacy and the SmartMED team
