Health update from SmartMED Drive-Thru 💙
Hopefully you won’t need us, but if you do, we are open Monday - Friday 9AM-5PM and Saturday 9AM-12PM. No appointment needed. Just drive in when you need care 💙

Flu B seems to be everywhere right now… and it’s not discriminating! Please make sure to wash hands often to help curb the spread.

Flu B, which generally shows up later in the flu season, is certainly present in our community (along with strep). Please continue to wash those hands! Hopefully only a few more weeks and the worst will be behind us 💗

Here is how Flu B and Strep generally present differently:

Flu B
• Sudden fever & chills
• Body aches and fatigue
• Headache
• Cough or congestion
• Sore throat can happen, but isn’t usually the main symptom

Strep Throat
• Severe sore throat (often very painful)
• Fever (sometimes)
• Swollen lymph nodes
• White patches on tonsils
*can cause nausea or GI symptoms

Week over week, we have seen a significant increase in strep positives, more than 2X that of Flu.

We are also seeing an increase in Flu B positives, which is standard since it generally appears later in the season. In years’ past, Flu B has been slightly more mild with GI symptoms, but this year the symptoms of Flu A and Flu B are nearly identical.
