🎄 December Staff Feature: Me! — Tasheana Colon

If you follow our social media, you’ve seen plenty of my posts — because I’m usually the one behind the screen. But this month, I get to step out front and feature myself for our December staff spotlight!

I graduated from God’s Bible School & College in 2015 with an Associate’s Degree in Elementary Education. While working on my degree, I was a nanny, a housekeeper, and a preschool teacher. After graduating, I taught preschool for several years and even moved to Kansas to teach in a private Christian elementary school before finding my way back home to Ohio.

I joined Family Private Care on my birthday in 2016, and yesterday I celebrated both my birthday and my 9-year anniversary with this amazing company. I started as a weekend on-call coordinator, eventually took over all on-call for a time, and now serve as the On-Call Supervisor and Social Media Manager, supporting both our Georgia and Alabama offices with scheduling, intakes, and whatever else comes up.

Outside of work, I love crafting and run a small handmade gift business in my spare time — it’s truly my creative outlet.

At home, I share a blended family with my spouse, Andrew. I have three children — twins Harmony and Aria (8), and my son Milo (6) — and I’m also a stepmom to Andrew’s daughter, Charli (9). Our home is always busy and full of life.

One of the things I’m most grateful for is the way FPC feels like a true family. We encourage each other, pray for each other, and show up for one another in both the hard moments and the joyful ones. Being part of a team like this is something really special.

Here’s to another year of serving our caregivers, clients, and families with heart — and doing it alongside a team that feels like home.- Tasheana

🌟 November Staff Feature: Meet Krystal 🌟
Krystal’s story starts on a farm in Kentucky, where gratitude and hard work were part of everyday life. As an adult, she set out on her own path — first to Washington, DC, and eventually to Atlanta, where she’s called home since 2011.

Her journey into senior care began in 1998, when her children started school. What started as a job quickly became a calling. Over the years, Krystal has worked in skilled nursing, memory care, home health, and a full CCRC. For the last three years, we’ve been blessed to have her as part of our Family Private Care team.

Her career has introduced her to an incredible mix of people — a U.S. Vice President, the U.N. Secretary, Civil Rights pioneers, Holocaust survivors, centenarians, and countless everyday heroes who aren’t famous but leave a lasting impact. Krystal calls it a “beautiful and emotional journey,” and credits her grandparents for teaching her the power of gratitude. Their motto was simple: “We are doing better than most.”

Krystal says working at FPC feels right.
“It feels good. Our leadership allows us to do good things for people and for each other. We don’t have to feel bad for spending time with our families. We can express our faith and spirituality. It’s a peaceful job with a real family atmosphere. We can pray for each other and ask for prayer.”

Family means everything to her. She’s a proud mom to three amazing children — Amara (33), Kamann (31), and Tayshon (21). And her newest joy? Becoming “Honey,” grandmother to sweet baby Josette, almost 3 months old. Most days, you’ll find Krystal enjoying good food, a cozy movie night, or traveling back to Kentucky to see her mom and sister.

She carries with her a collection of wisdom gathered over the years:
✨ Don’t take life so seriously — have fun and laugh.
✨ Don’t wait to travel or fall in love.
✨ Learn something new.
✨ Be kind, and don’t waste time on mean people.
✨ Gratitude is the best attitude.
✨ You have to spend money to gain money.
✨ Generosity creates a happy heart.
✨ And remember… you’re almost always better than most.

We’re grateful for you, Krystal — your heart, your wisdom, and the peace you bring to our team.

🌼 Today’s Reminder:
If you’re caring for someone you love, you are doing one of the hardest and most meaningful jobs on the planet — even on the days you feel like you’re running on fumes.

Caregiving isn’t glamorous.
It’s real, it’s emotional, it’s messy, and it requires a strength most people don’t recognize until they’re in it themselves.

So for today — November 20th — take this as your sign to pause, breathe, and give yourself credit for the work you put in every single day. 💙

✨ You’re allowed to rest.
✨ You’re allowed to ask for help.
✨ You’re doing better than you think.

And if you or someone you love needs support at home, our team is always here to step in and lighten the load.
Family Private Care — helping families care for what matters most.

💙 November is Family Caregivers Month
And let’s be honest — it’s a title that doesn’t even begin to cover everything caregivers actually do.

You juggle appointments, emotions, late nights, early mornings, tough decisions, and tender moments… all while holding your own life together.
That’s not ordinary. That’s remarkable.

💙 Family caregivers = Everyday superheroes.
Not the cape-wearing kind — the real kind.
The kind who show up, stay steady, and give love that can’t be measured.

Whether you’re caring for a parent, spouse, child, neighbor, or friend…
Whether you’ve been doing this for years or you just stepped into the role…
We see you. We appreciate you. And you matter more than you know.

💙 Thank you for everything you do.
