National COVID-19 Day & National Immune System Day

Today is a day of reflection and awareness.

National COVID-19 Day reminds us to honor those we lost and recognize the dedication of healthcare workers, caregivers, and first responders who supported communities during an incredibly difficult time.

It is also National Immune System Day, which encourages us to focus on protecting and strengthening our health.

A strong immune system is supported by simple daily habits like:
✔️ Getting enough sleep
✔️ Staying active
✔️ Eating balanced, nutritious meals
✔️ Managing stress
✔️ Staying up to date on recommended health screenings

For many older adults and those receiving care, maintaining good health habits can make a meaningful difference in overall wellness.

Today we remember, reflect, and continue working toward healthier communities together.

Today is National Napping Day, perfectly placed right after the time change when everyone’s sleep schedule is still trying to figure itself out.

Short naps can actually help:
✔️ Improve focus
✔️ Boost mood
✔️ Increase energy
✔️ Reduce stress

The key is keeping it short — about 20–30 minutes is the sweet spot.

Of course, most of us can’t sneak a nap in the middle of the workday… but we can at least dream about it.

So if you’re feeling a little extra sleepy today, you’re not alone. Monday + time change = officially nap-worthy.

💬 Be honest…
If you could take a nap right now, would you?

03/08/2026

So… how did everyone do today after the time change?

Whether you gained an hour or lost one, the first day always feels a little off. Sleep schedules shift, routines feel weird, and suddenly dinner time feels like midnight or lunchtime.

The good news? Our bodies usually adjust within a few days.

A few tips to help reset:
• Try to keep your bedtime routine consistent
• Get some sunlight during the day
• Avoid too much caffeine late in the evening

If today felt a little extra tiring, you’re not alone. Be patient with yourself while your body clock catches up.

Tomorrow is a new day — and hopefully one with a little more energy.

Today is . If you're caring for someone with a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), please know:

⏱️ Recovery takes time. Most progress happens in the first 3–6 months after a TBI, but healing can continue for years.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 TBIs affect the whole family. Role reversal is real, with adult children suddenly caring for parents who were once the head of the household.
🧠 Symptoms are complex. Physical: headaches, fatigue, dizziness, vision changes, sleep issues, coordination problems. Cognitive: memory loss, changes in attention span, and communication challenges.
💪 Caregiver health matters. Caregivers of people with a TBI experience higher rates of stress, anxiety, anger, and depression - increasing the risk for high blood pressure.
👀 Watch for changes. Some brain damage is immediate, while other damage develops gradually over hours, days, or weeks. Report changes to the care team ASAP.

You're their best advocate.
