Georgia Funeral Directors Association

Georgia Funeral Directors Association Georgia Funeral Directors Association is the oldest funeral service association in Georgia.

GFDA offers continuing education, approved by state funeral service boards, at various forums and times throughout each year, featuring presentations on topics that are timely, cost-effective, and highly informative to funeral directors and embalmers. GFDA provides information about association activities and funeral service legislative, licensing and regulatory matters to its membership. GFDA also serves as a notification to membership for deaths within the funeral profession, primarily licensed funeral directors, sales associates and/or members of their immediate families. GFDA, the Executive Committee, Executive Director and registered Lobbyist, continuously monitors legislation of interest to the funeral service profession and expresses views of the association to elected leadership of Georgia. Additionally, the Lobbyist and Executive Director maintain close working relationships with state regulatory agencies, related funeral industry organizations, the insurance industry, and the business and legal communities. GFDA is the only National Funeral Directors Association state affiliate association in Georgia and corresponds with members of the Georgia Congressional Delegation regarding federal issues of concern to the funeral profession. GFDA, through its Executive Committee and Executive Director, serves as a resource center for information on all aspects of funeral service.

What a historic and proud day for Georgia funeral service! ️

GFDA is thrilled to celebrate the installation of two Georgia Funeral Directors to the NFDA Board!

Pictured at the ceremony:
• Ellen Wynn McBrayer – Installed as NFDA Secretary
• Carlton Maye, Jr. – Installed as At-Large Representative
• Installed by Georgia’s own Bryant Hightower, Past GFDA President and Past NFDA President

This is a remarkable moment for our state, and we could not be more proud to see Georgia so well-represented at the national level.

GFDA President David Mowell and several other Georgia funeral professionals were in attendance to show support (with many more cheering from home!). Thank you all for lifting up and celebrating our leaders.

Please join us in congratulating Ellen and Carlton as they continue to serve our profession with excellence, integrity, and heart.
