We all have a story, don’t we? A story we tell ourselves and the one we narrate to others. Sometimes for whatever reason we feel that we have to live different stories with different people or groups compromising our authenticity and core self. Having a confidential professional resource like a mental health therapist can help you untangle yourself from the complexities of your own life and live meaningfully with more acceptance and belonging. Remember, you always have the power to re-write your story or change! In Michael White (a famous psychotherapist)’s words: “it is the story of self narrative that determines the shape of the expression of our lived experience.”
A major component of my story is that I have a passion to help people, to connect with them and empower them to change and become the best version of themselves. The self can then navigate the chaos or struggles of life with calm, skill, and strength. My passion is my source for peace and authenticity. As a multilingual (English, Urdu, Hindi) licensed psychologist I have provided confidential individual, group, and career counseling to adults and elderly in diverse settings, including universities, hospitals, and non-profits. I focus on providing competent, evidence-based, and ethically sound psychotherapy to my clients. I also offer mental health consulting to local businesses and workplaces. I plan on using this page to share helpful mental health resources with you and help break the stigma against caring for our minds! “A happy mind is a healthy mind. And a healthy mind is good for the body.” Dalai Lama.
I am trained and experienced in addressing: Anxiety/Panic, Depression, Adjustment Issues, Trauma, Grief/Loss, Relationship Violence, Career related issues, Racial/cultural issue, Stress Management, Life Transitions. I am also trained in career and personality assessments.
My approach to therapy is integrative and centered around the client. I am skilled in acceptance-and-commitment, rational-emotive, and cognitive-behavioral therapies as well as mindfulness-based and solution-focused approaches.
