Seeking control can be a natural response to stress or change as they navigate their world and build essential tools for processing, engaging, and learning.

Here are three empowering ways to give your child a sense of control while acknowledging their developmental needs:
1⃣ Visual Routines: Create visual routines that allow your child to see what's coming next. A daily schedule with pictures or symbols provides predictability and a sense of structure, reducing uncertainty and anxiety.
2⃣ Choice-Making: Offer choices within limits to give your child a sense of agency. For example, let them choose between two healthy snacks or decide on the order of their bedtime routine. This fosters decision-making skills and autonomy.
