Water is the secret ingredient that keeps your body moving and your chiropractic care lasting.
When you are well-hydrated, the discs between your vertebrae remain plush and resilient. These discs act as shock absorbers for your spine, but they rely heavily on water to maintain their height and cushion. Dehydration can cause these discs to lose volume, which increases friction and makes it harder for your spine to stay in alignment.
Hydration also directly impacts your muscles and connective tissues. Dehydrated muscles tend to be tight, prone to spasms, and more likely to pull your joints out of place. When your muscles are flexible and nourished, they support your skeletal structure rather than working against it.
