Supports Families and Children with Special Needs

KISS ABA operates as a comprehensive and consistent therapeutic support, creating optimal independence for individuals with disabilities. We understand the tremendous number of decisions that parents raising a child with special needs are required to make, considering the deficit in assistance and resources available to comfortably support these decisions. Via our structured in-home support from the moment of diagnosis, through childhood and into adulthood, KISS ABA, certified in Specially Designed Instruction, is able to provide parents with a specific collection of resources and strategies essential for the behavior management, academic achievement, and functional living skills of their child with special needs.

Do you suspect bright lights could be affecting your child?

Do you suspect bright lights could be affecting your child?

I find sunlight genuinely painful. Even as a child I would hide in the shadows because the world seemed too bright. Bright lights can cause headaches, sickness, dizziness, migraines and meltdowns when it all becomes too much.

There are some things that can help.
Dimmer switches are a great way of allowing you to control the light to suit your needs. Or you could use lamps instead of the β€˜big light’
Sunglasses, shades, caps…anything that helps to keep the light out of your eyes. Some people feel they benefit from wearing coloured or shaded glasses indoors as well as outdoors.

Happy 35th Anniversary to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)! πŸŽ‰

In 1990, the ADA was a landmark civil rights achievement and a powerful step toward equality, inclusion, and accessibility for millions of Americans with disabilities. It outlawed discrimination, expanded access to public spaces, and affirmed the right of people with disabilities to fully participate in all areas of life.

But 35 years later, π˜π—΅π—²π—Ώπ—² π—Άπ˜€ π˜€π˜π—Άπ—Ήπ—Ή π˜„π—Όπ—Ώπ—Έ π˜π—Ό 𝗯𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲 to ensure that individuals with Down syndrome and other disabilities maintain access to critical programs like Medicaid and high-quality special education services, have access to life-saving organ transplants, have the ability to work, earn, and save for their futures and so much more. πŸ’ͺ

To celebrate the 35th anniversary of the ADA we challenge YOU to make your voice heard by contacting your 𝟯 Members of Congress about 𝟱 NDSS policy priorities. We've made it easy for you to do with just one link!

Together, we can continue to build on the ADA to make our world more inclusive for individuals with Down syndrome and all disabilities.
