Real talk: therapy on TV isn’t always what it looks like in real life 👀
We get it. TV makes therapy more dramatic, more personal, and sometimes a little blurred when it comes to boundaries. But in real life, those boundaries aren’t there to create distance, they’re there to protect you.
Ethical guidelines help keep therapy a space that is consistent, supportive, and centered on your needs. That means your therapist isn’t your friend outside of sessions, won’t make decisions for you, and won’t shift the focus onto themselves. Instead, they’re there to help you build insight, feel supported, and create meaningful change in your life.
Real therapy might feel slower or less “exciting” than what you see on screen but that steady, grounded space is where real growth happens.
This is part 1 of our Real Talk series, where we’re breaking down what safe, healthy support actually looks like 🤍
