Excessive device use is harming developing brains in kids & teens. It thins prefrontal cortex (critical for thinking, focus, self-control), disrupts white matter (cognition/memory), overstimulates visuals, and starves language/social/deep thinking areas.
No more memorizing maps/numbers or sustained thought → lost neural strength. Constant scrolling prunes deep processing, causing poor attention, memory, problem-solving. Research links heavy early screens to language delays, executive function issues, structural brain changes, and lower reasoning scores.
Contributes to maturity delays (up to a decade+), amplified by rote/test-heavy education. Higher risks: anxiety, depression, attention problems.
Solution: Strict limits. Favor unstructured play, physical books, real interactions, outdoor time, hands-on activities for proper brain development. Protect plastic young brains!
