I get asked this all the time:
“What is Sever’s disease?”

It’s heel pain in kids that often gets dismissed as “growing pains.”
In reality, bones grow fast, muscles tighten, and that tension pulls on the heel.

That’s why Sever’s disease is treated the same way as plantar fasciitis.

Some babies cannot be put down...they wake up and cry the moment they’re laid flat.
And only settle when held.

Parents are often told:
“They just want to be close.”
“They’re a fussy baby.”
“That’s normal.”

But common doesn’t mean normal.
And normal doesn’t mean optimal.

For many babies, lying flat in a neutral position actually hurts.

Muscles that were tight in the womb don’t magically reset at birth.
Hip flexors, neck, shoulders—after months of compression, those tissues can be short, tight, and painful when stretched for the first time.

Your performance doesn’t just depend on how you train.
It depends on how you recover.

If you’re an athlete (esp. a throwing athlete) and you’re sleeping on your throwing arm, or curled up all night, you’re shortening muscles, blocking blood supply, and pinching nerves while your body is supposed to be healing.

That adds up night after night.
And eventually it shows up as tightness, loss of range, pain, or performance drop.

Recovery is everything in sports.
Sleep is one third of your life.
Your sleep position matters more than most athletes realize.

This is John.

College wrestling cut short.
Two shoulder surgeries.

Years of pain, frustration, and limited mobility.

He came in, got worked on, and felt his shoulder more freely that it had in 9 years.

We live to get people in, fixed, and back to what they were born to do , because let’s be honest… life isn’t really lived and dreams are hard to chase when you’re in constant pain.

At the time this was filmed, Austin FC's roster was injury-free and leading Major League Soccer in goal differential — an incredible result for a young team.

Injuries don’t happen in isolation. Almost every injury is followed by muscles tightening, shortening, and fascia locking down around the area. If you try to strengthen a body that’s still contracted, you’re building on dysfunction.

You can’t strengthen a contracted muscle. You have to restore length and movement first.

That principle applies whether you’re a professional athlete or someone just trying to stay active and pain-free.

I heard the phrase:
“It hurts… but it works.”

What I learned is this:
Pain isn’t always damage. Often, it’s restriction. Tightness. A body stuck in protection mode.

When those muscles finally release, blood flow returns, posture restores, and the pain signal turns off — because your body realizes it’s safe again.

I didn’t just leave taller.
I left happier.
Clearer.
More myself.

And I never expected this part:
Getting out of pain helped me step into my purpose.
Including finally using my voice — and hosting the podcast I dreamed about for 20 years.

If you’re in pain and feel like you’ve “tried everything”…
There is a way out.
