The Parable of the Empty Boat

In Zhuangzi, there's a story about a man rowing his boat down a river.
Suddenly, another boat crashes into his. Enraged, he turns to yell at the person responsible—
…but the boat is empty.

With no one to blame, his anger vanishes.

🌀 The teaching is simple:
Much of our suffering comes not from what happens, but from assigning blame, clinging to control, or taking things personally.

Sometimes, life "bumps into us" like an empty boat.
Can we let go, like the river?
Can we live with more lightness, more simplicity?

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, summer is the season of the Heart and Fire element — a time to stay light, joyful, and hydrated.
Here are a few fresh ideas to keep your body balanced and your meals energizing:

🥒 Cooling Foods:

Cucumber, watermelon, mung beans, mint, chrysanthemum tea

Lightly steamed zucchini, bok choy, and bitter greens

Fresh fruits like pear, kiwi, and berries

🍽️ Simple Summer Dish:
Chilled Mung Bean & Cucumber Salad

1 cup cooked mung beans (cool and rinse)

1 chopped cucumber

A splash of rice vinegar + sesame oil

Pinch of salt, fresh mint, and optional chili flakes

Feeling tired, cranky, or foggy lately? It might be dehydration sneaking up on you—especially in this heat! 😓 Your body needs more than just plain water to function at 100%.

Here’s a simple hydration boost recipe I love:

🥤 DIY Mineral Water

1 glass of filtered water

A small squeeze of lime (vitamin C + flavor)

A tiny pinch of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate helps balance pH)

Optional: a teaspoon of pickle juice for a natural electrolyte kick 🥒

This combo helps replenish electrolytes—key minerals like sodium, potassium, and magnesium that support muscle function, nerve signals, and mood regulation. 💪🧠

👉 Studies show that even mild dehydration can impair mood, energy, and mental performance. So don’t wait until you’re thirsty—hydrate throughout the day!
