How does is work?

Women who consume their placenta may experience gentler and faster recoveries as they transition through postpartum, lactation and their new role as "Mommy". What does the placenta do?

Your placenta is the lifeline between you and your baby. It provides oxygen and nutrients and also removes waste products from your baby's blood. The placenta is responsible for maintaining a healthy pregnancy and produces large amounts of the hormone progesterone.

Progesterone is often referred to as the "pregnancy hormone". Your body acclimates to these high levels of progesterone during the course of your pregnancy.

After the birth of your baby, you then birth the placenta. This means your body loses that constant supply it has grown used to.

This drop can be responsible for 1 in 4 women experiencing postpartum depression and/or anxiety, because their bodies are struggling to recuperate and adjust.
