This week, our "People of Person" spotlight shines on Rhonda Mabe-Elliott!
At Person Memorial Hospital, some of our most impactful team members work behind the scenes—and Rhonda Mabe-Elliott is a perfect example of that quiet excellence.
Rhonda is what you might call a “fixer.” She thrives on solving problems and finding solutions—it’s simply how her mind works. With a data-driven approach and a unique perspective, she brings invaluable insight to our team. While many may not see her work firsthand, her impact is felt across the entire organization. Quite simply, Rhonda is priceless to PMH.
Her journey with Person Memorial Hospital began in February 2000 as a weekend option tech in the Lab. Coming from a larger hospital, Rhonda was searching for a smaller, community-focused environment to call home—and she found it here. Within just a few months, she transitioned into a full-time role, and more than two decades later, she now serves as our Director of IT.
When asked what she loves most about PMH, Rhonda shares:
“I have developed a work family that is truly family—people who have stood by me through the birth of my children, the loss of loved ones, and everything in between. I love knowing the names of people I pass in the hallways. I love being able to recommend our providers to friends and family because I believe in them. I love supporting my community and advocating for our patients, even from behind the scenes.
PMH has also given me the opportunity for professional growth—from starting as a weekend option tech to now serving as Director of IT. I love a challenge, and PMH gives me that every day. I love that I can create change, mentor my team, and help inspire the next generation through leadership.”
Rhonda, thank you for your dedication, your problem-solving spirit, and your unwavering commitment to both our team and our community.

Today, representatives from Person Memorial Hospital were honored to take part in a Colon Cancer Awareness luncheon at Piedmont Community College.
Dr. Mathew George shared valuable insights on colon cancer prevention, detection, and treatment, helping empower attendees with life-saving knowledge. We were also inspired by PMH team member Lannitt Claudin, who courageously shared her journey as a colon cancer survivor.
Thank you to Person Family Medical & Dental Center for hosting the event, and thank you to all the vendors and attendees who joined us for this important conversation. Together, we can raise awareness, encourage screenings, and make a difference in the fight against colon cancer.
