About Us
The Sickle Cell Disease Program at Dana-Farber/Boston Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Center provides comprehensive care of children and young adults with all types of sickle cell disease. We offer diagnostic testing and the full array of standard screening and long-term sickle cell health management strategies. Each sickle cell patient’s multidisciplinary team includes a primary hematology sub-specialist and a Social Worker. Additional integral members of the health team include Advanced Practice Providers (Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants), and nurses.
As part of Boston Children’s Hospital, a global leader in pediatric care, our patients and families also have access to the full array of pediatric sub-specialists who collaborate in the care of our sickle cell patients. This includes the infrastructure to provide full radiology, transfusional and urgent care services that comprise true comprehensive care.
We have a long track record of translating our scientific discoveries in sickle cell disease into the clinical investigation of new disease-modifying and curative treatments by leading clinical trials and participating in federally funded sickle cell disease research networks.
